A/N: Before we start, this will be my last piece Fire Emblem writing for a while. I've lost interest and I've just been feeling really upset lately. I know I have a lot of requests I never finished but it's getting stressful and I don't enjoy it anymore. Perhaps soon I'll find my interest again. And I know Lukas is super OOC and I apologize but at the moment I really don't care.
It seemed as if the days were getting longer, and the battles were getting harder; at the end of the day your body ached more than it ever had. The Deliverance was slowly gaining on the Rigelians, but the process was slow. The breaks in between battles was stressful and many knights would train at these times. You usually trained alone, but today was different because Lukas was sparring with her. Lukas was pretty serious when it came to his physical abilities, he pushes himself too far sometimes.
You sat alone on a cushion, tapping your foot as you waited for the redhead to arrive. “Hey, sorry I'm late. Tobin went for a stroll in the meadow and somehow got lost. And obviously I was in charge of finding him- he had fallen into a ditch!” Lukas mused, handing you a wooden sword. He then offered you his hand, which you took with a faint blush on your cheeks.
“You can't get too worked up over it, they're only children,” you reply, shaking your head and laughing. Lukas rolled his eyes.
“I know, but did no one teach these kids to take care of themselves? They follow me around like sheep. ‘Lukas, Gray hit me!’, ‘Lukas, I'm hungry!’,” he quoted, though he smiled. There was a long pause before you spoke up.
“Well what are we standing here for? Let's get started!” You teased, and both of you readied your weapons.
“I'm not too skilled with a sword, so excuse me if I'm not quite-” he began but cut off to defend himself. Your swords clashed, and he skidded back from the force of impact. “Not bad.” Your eyes gleamed as you swung your sword at his side, though he was already ready to block it. This time, it was Lukas who charged you with so much force you both lost footing and fell to the ground. You nearly choked on your own tongue as you realized he had landed on top of you. You were both wearing padding, but no armor which made the whole ordeal even more embarrassing.
“Oh gods, Y/N I'm so sorry, I just lost footing and-” he sputtered, but he was cut off once again, but this time by your hand.
“Hehe, It's fine, Lukas, I'm not hurt or anything,” you replied, giggling at how flustered he was. You enjoyed teasing him at moments like this, it was just refreshing to see a different side of him. You pushed your head closer so that your noses were touching, and you saw the surprise and embarrassment reflected in his eyes.
“You're awfully close, Y/N,” he said nervously.
“Am I? Does it bother you?” You asked in amusement. Before he could answer, the door burst open with a bang. The both of you looked up, startled, as Tobin ran through the door.
“Lukas, Forsyth wanted me to tell you- oh… Oh! I'm so sorry ahhh I didn't see anything,” Tobin yelped, covering his eyes immediately. “Do you have your clothes on?”
“What? Of course we do!” You exclaimed, brushing your shirt off as the two of you stood up.
“Oh! Good! Last time I barged in a room like that… Let's just say Python nearly kicked me out the window,” Tobin replied, removing his hands from his eyes. He just stood there for a few minutes and you and Lukas exchanged glances.
“Uhh, Tobin? Do you need anything or…?” You asked, cocking your head.
“Oh, right! I'll leave! Forsyth can tell you later!” Tobin said before quickly scurrying out the door in embarrassment.
“That boy has no sense of timing, let alone sense at all…” Lukas sighed.
“Oh, Lukas, don't pretend like you don't love them as much as I do,” you teased.
“I do, they make me feel like being a father would be tiring, but, not entirely horrible,” he admitted. You laid your hand on his as a smile ghosted on your face. This time he wasn't embarrassed, and he took your hand in his warmly. “Ahhh, how do I say this,” Lukas began. “You're a brilliant soldier, one of the best I've met, but I can't help but think of you as more than just a comrade in arms.”
“Lukas, are you saying that…” you asked, but your question trailed off.
“That I love you? Yes,” he finished your sentence. You smiled and threw your arms around him. He was taken aback, but he returned your embrace. You timidly kissed his cheek, not really knowing how he'd respond. He pressed his cheek to your forehead, causing you to giggle.
“We should probably see what Forsyth needed so badly,” you mutter, your voice barely more than a whisper.
“Just stay with me for a while longer,” he pleaded, and there was no way you were going to say no to him.
“Well so much for training…”
