"Goodbye."
My eyes snap open.
I sit there for a moment before taking a deep breath.
I sit up in the bed and my hand goes to my forehead. I'm sweating. I wipe the sweat from my forehead and sigh.
Not wanting to fall asleep again, I get up and go to the door.
It's late. The moon and the stars are out. I look up at them as I walk, oblivious to everything but the sky.
I've been going on these walks for a couple months now. Wandering, looking for something, running from something, and I don't even know what.
Before I know it, I'm crossing a small bridge, and then glancing at the single window of an empty apartment, and then I just continue walking without giving it a thought.
"Natsu! Where are you going?"
My feet continue moving as Happy flies up beside me.
"I'm walking."
"It's late. What are you doing?"
"I don't know."
"Why don't we just go home?"
"I don't like it there, Happy. It's empty."
"Well maybe I don't like it, either. But it's our house and there's nowhere else we can sleep anyway."
He's right. I don't know where I'm going. I don't know why I'm walking. I've been doing this for months, and I can never find what I'm looking for.
I sigh and look at him.
"Yeah. Fine Happy. Let's go."
I stop walking.
"We should go on a mission tomorrow, Happy."
"Yeah!"
