52- Adventure

"What are you guys doing here so early?"

I raise my eyebrows at the sleepy cat's direction.

"Because Natsu wanted to see youuu!"

I falter a little at his words, and look to Natsu, who already had his eyes staring straight at me, but then he smiles.

"Do you want to go on a fun job request?"

That's why he's here?

He's been waiting here since who knows when, just to ask me that little question.

I don't realize the silence that ensues from my lack of respond, until Natsu starts speaking again.

"C'mon Lucy! It'll be a fun adventure!"

"Aye sir!"

Natsu and Happy laugh, and I stare bewildered at them, and before I know it, tears spring into my eyes, but don't break free.

"I w-wanted to go on more adventures..."

I shut my mouth, my lips pressing into a thin line.

I take a shaky breath, before composing myself, and a light smile sets on my face.

"I'd love to go, so long as there's enough left for my rent."

A light smile is on my face as I speak, and Natsu looks to me and smiles a small one in return.

"Of course."

He gets up from his seat, grabbing Happy as he does so.

"Let's go pick out a job, Happy!"

They both run off to the request board, and I stand there staring at them.

I hear a loud creak echo throughout the building, and I look over to see Erza entering through the big doors.

"Erza!"

I walk up to Erza, greeting her with a smile.

"Good morning, Lucy."

Ezra's eyes disconnect from mine, and she raises her eyebrow at something over my shoulder.

"What are Natsu and Happy doing here so early?"

I turn my head to look at them. Natsu stares intently at the board, Happy grabbing requests to show Natsu, and Natsu dismissing them all by whacking them out of Happy's hand.

"We're going on a job."

"I'm glad."

I look back to Erza.

"Would you like to come along, too?"

She smiles at me.

"I don't see why not."

I smile back, and then a realization hits me and I whip my head around, looking throughout the guild.

"Is Gray here? I'd like to invite him to tag along, also."

"I don't believe so, but he should be here soon. We can wait for a little bit."

"Alright, and what about Wendy? Is she here by any chance?"

"Actually, I heard she went on a mission with Carla, shouldn't be back until later tonight."

"That's too bad."

"Lucy!"

Two idiots come running up from behind me, hitting my back as they get close enough.

"We found a job!"

Natsu grabs my arm, and starts pulling me.

"Natsu, wait!"

He stops, and gives me a weird look.

"What?"

"We need to wait for Gray to get here."

His face falls.

"You're kidding right?"

"No, Gray and Erza are going to come with us."

His mouth hangs open, and he stares at me with wide eyes.

"You invited them?"

He puts huge emphasis on the word "them", and I chuckle at his expression.

"Oh hush, he'll be here soon."
