The job was easy. Took us a good twenty minutes to find him, and a good thirty seconds to beat him.

Happy's asleep. It's just me and Natsu, sitting quietly by the fire.

I stare at the fire longingly, wishing for the warmth that I once had to return to me.

"Are you okay?"

My eyes snap up to see Natsu staring at me.

"Yes."

"You aren't. Why do you always seem so sad?"

I quickly avert my eyes, and stare at the fire.

"It's because I am alone."

I feel his gaze on me as I continue to look at the fire, waiting for me to say more.

"I have lost everyone that truly matters to me."

"I'm sorry, Lucy."

"Everybody has to leave eventually. Nothing lasts forever. Only the memories that I hold in my heart."

"That's not true."

"It is, Natsu. This world has a way of dragging me from any happiness."

There's a long pause of silence before he finally speaks again.

"What happened? To your family, I mean."

I pause, and contemplate my answer. I won't lie, not to Natsu.

"They have forgotten me."

"If they forgot you, then they were never truly your family."

I look up at him for a moment before shaking my head.

"They made me happy, and gave me a home. Even if I am no longer their family, I will forever be grateful for the times when I was."

"Well, Fairy Tail will always be your family now."

I raise my gaze to meet his.

"You're right. Fairy Tail will always be in my heart."

He smiles at me, but without knowing the true meaning of our conversation.

"Goodnight, Natsu."

I give him a genuine smile.

Even so, it made me happy.
