Lanas POV
July 23rd
"Are you ready?" I ask the in labour redhead lying on the hospital bed in front of me. "Ready as I'll ever be I guess" she replies,holding my hand exactly as she was holding mine  just three days prior to this. "Okay here we go,PUSH" I shout as my best friend screams in agony beside me. Even though it was only a few minutes until the baby arrived, it felt like the whole room went into slow motion as this amazing women gave birth to her child. Once it was all over the room was silent for a few seconds until it was broken by the loud cries of the newborn.
"Congratulations it's a girl" the nurse says handing Rebecca the baby. Smiling uncontrollably at the baby I notice a small patch of red hair and her sky blue eyes as they open. "Oh she looks just like you" I express still staring into her gorgeous eyes."thank you for helping me through everything Lan you really are the most amazing friend anyone could ask for" she says resting her head on my shoulder. "And I couldn't be prouder of you for overcoming everything that has gotten in your way over the past 9 months you really are the strongest woman I know" I reply.

"What's her name?" I ask stroking her tiny cheek. "Well the only name I can think of that would be fitting..Lana" she says smiling, holding her tiny hand. "Oh Bex" I say my eyes now flooding with tears. "You have helped me through everything Lan, when I thought I didn't have any purpose in this world anymore, you're the one who came to my rescue. When my Mum came to visit, you helped me stand up to her. And acually having this baby, I couldn't of done any of it without you so this child will be named after her auntie Lana".
"Thank you Bex, it's an honour to have your child named after me, I love you so much" I express. "I love you too" she replies wiping the tears from her eyes. "Errrm bex?" I say just receiving a text from my phone. "Yes?" She asks still in awe of the tiny baby. "Speaking of your mother..she's outside" I say not wanting to upset her. "I don't have to let her in if you don't want" I tell her. " no no,it's okay she can see the baby, but if I hear one comment she will be out of this baby's life for good" she explains firmly. Entering the room the older redhead stares at her daughter and then her granddaughter. "Hello mother" Rebecca states kind of uncomfortably. "Hello Rebecca, I have come to apologise for what I said back when I visited. I do not think you are a screw up and I know you are capable of raising a child alone, and with of course Lana's help" she explains. Even though what she was saying was not exactly a plead for forgiveness I could tell she meant every word and she really wanted to be a part of this baby's life. "Okay mother, thank you" Bex says looking at her mother with forgiving eyes. "So do I get to know the name of my grandchild?" She questions. "Lana..her name is Lana" the redhead says proudly. "What a beautiful name for a beautiful child, named after this fine woman I presume?" she asks. "Yes" Rebecca tells her mother. For the first time ever I saw a genuine smile on the older woman's face it was as if she was almost proud of my best friend. "Well then,I should go and get your father, he's waiting outside I'm sure he'd love to meet his new granddaughter" she says going to fetch him. "Okay then" Rebecca says as she leaves the room. "Did you see that Lan, that's the first time in my whole life we've had a conversation and she hasn't criticised me or reminded me about something amazing Rachel has done" she expresses to me with a smile on her face. "I think she's proud of you Bex as am I" i reply back. "You going to be the most amazing mother to her" I tell her staring into her blue eyes. "Thank you and so are you" she says taking my hand just as my family enter the room.

*i know it's kind of a weird place to end the chapter but it's 4:30 am and I should probably sleep😂 hope you like the story so far. I don't really know where it's gonna go from here but I'll carry on nonetheless💚 also feel free to comment, i'd love to know what you think-Meg 💚
