"Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot." He walks over to his bag on the table and grabs the roll of pound notes from his bag. "Here it is, all of it. I guess this is goodbye." He hands you the cash and rubs his face with his shirt sleeve. "Zowie and I are going away for a bit but, if you don't mind, I'd like for you to say goodbye to him. He doesn't need another woman to walk out without saying goodbye to him." He drops his hand and walks away to the couch. "He's upstairs." "Fine." You frown slightly and walks upstairs to see Zowie sitting on the bed. "Hey little one." You peek around the corner of his door and looks at him. Zowie squeals and runs over to you. "(Y/N)! (Y/N)! Did daddy tell you? We're going on a trip!" He grins and latches his arms around your knees. "I missed you, you weren't here for breakfast," he pouts as he looks up to you. "And you weren't here when I had my nightmares."
You crouch down and rubs his back. "Yes Zowie, he did. I wasn't here because your father did a very bad thing to me and I was angry at him." You growl softly and cracks a fake smile. "And I'am still very angry at your
father," you say a bit louder for David
to hear. "so I will not see you for a long time okay?" You lean back and looks at him. "And when you have nightmares, I may not be here but remember I am always here." You point at his chest, to his heart.Zowie sniffles and looks down. "You're leaving too." His little lip starts to tremble as he wipes his face harshly on his choo-choo train pyjama sleeve. "I thought we were friends, I'll miss you." You hush him softly and plants a kiss
on his head. "I will never leave and I will always be your friend, your best friend. And I'm going to miss you to and maybe...maybe I can come and be your nanny for some time if your father let me." You whisper sweetly as you wipe his eyes. "Here," you searches in your
pocket and pulls out your bracelet. "For you, a little piece of me for you." You push it around his thin wrist and looks up at him, trying to hold back your tears. He flings his arms around your neck and holds onto you. "Please, don't go!"He sobs loudly enough for David to hear and he walks upstairs, looking worse than a dead man. He stands across the hall from you and watches you. "Zowie, let (Y/N) go. You can see her soon, I promise that once we get back from our trip you can go to her house." Zowie sniffles and looks up to you, neither of them knowing about your plans to go with Jeremy. "Can I see you soon?" Zowie asks quietly still clinging to you. "You will hear from me." You caresses his cheek and hugs him softly. "Bye
little one." You whimper as you blink a tear away. "Keep the bracelet close okay?" You crack another smile and stand back up. He holds onto your leg and nods as you turn out of his room, refusing to let go. David lets out a shaky breath and holds onto him as he picks him up off the ground. "Thank you, and I'm deeply sorry. Jeremy is waiting for you." David bites his lip and walks into Zowie'sshut the door on your way out this time," he croaks as he shuts the door to Zowie's room with his foot. You scratch your nails across the door as tears drip down from your eyes and your cheeks, not because of David but because of Zowie. You walk down the stairs and looks around, it looked dark and empty, not how it was supposed to be.David sets Zowie down after calming him down and just like his father, becomes tired after crying. David walks out of the room and shuts the door to sit at the too of the stairs still unaware you were there as he cries again. "Why did she come back, now it's only harder to go and to see her with him." He says to the air, the still room. "I need a fucking drink." He curls up and holds his knees to his chest before crawling down the stairs, still not seeing you through the blur of tears as he reaches the cabinet for his scotch he hadn't touched in ages. He grabs a glass from the counter above himas he sits on the ground in the corner. "Why did she have to let me see her again? I wish I hadn't said anything. A few more weeks, I should have shut up." He drinks his first glass easily before pouring another one. "Maybe Angie was right, I'm worthless and shit and I'll never get out of here." He sips more before tossing the glass to the side and drinking from the bottle.
