CHRIS' POV

Fuck this is not good.

"Colonel Contreras speaking.." was all I heard before Jane went inside our bedroom while I stayed in the receiving area of our hotel room.

"Captain Grey?" the man asked whom I recognized as Admiral Gibbs "Yes, sir."

"I need you in here ASAP. You're flight's schedule is being sent to your email as we speak including your e-ticket. You'll know the details once you get here."

"Copy." With that he hang up a few minutes later Jane came out of the room with our bag in her shoulder and the paper bags of merchandise we purchased for everyone.

"babe, sorry to cut our trip short but I was summoned, ASAP." she said placing the bag in the couch "I'll just take a leak then we can leave."

She was silent as she drives but the way her knuckles were turning white as she grips the steering wheel tighter tells me that she's thinking and deeply worried.

"will you be okay if you'll stay at home without me for a couple of more days before you leave for US?" she asked as we stopped at a red light.

"I need to go at first light tomorrow babe, my flight's at 0700 hours." She flipped her head in an instant and saw fear in her eyes but then masked it in a blink of an eye. "w..were y...you –" the first time I heard/saw her stammering so I cut her off "yes, I too was summoned. Don't know the details yet." I told her as I placed my hand over hers as she shifted gear. She sighed then nods at me.

We arrived home the following day at 0400 hours. She helped me packed my things and drove me to the airport. I don't want to go let alone leave her like this but we can do nothing about this and we both know that, regardless where the hell you are or what fuck you're doing when you're summoned or were given orders you have no option but to comply.

We're at the airport's parking lot an hour earlier than my flight. She sat there for a few more seconds was about to step out of the car when I pulled her to hug her. I hugged her as if she'll disappear if I held her loose then I felt her chest vibrate and how my shirt's damp.

"Oh fuck, Jane babe please don't cry, I cant leave you like this. I beg you but if you ask me to stay I will." She immediately let go of me after hearing last sentence.

"you know I wont do that Grey, I just.. I don't know.. I've been preparing myself for this since its inevitable but I didn't know its this hard and painful.." she started sobbing.

I wiped that tears stream down her face using my thumb as I held face with my hands and kissed her as I need to in order to live.

"I love you Grey bear that in mind. Don't get hurt and that's an order." She said panting, sobbing and barely holding it together.

"PROMISE ME YOU'LL TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, WIFE."  I asked her looking into her eyes "I promise as long as you take care of yourself too." And she engulfed me in a hug once more.

Before I board the plane, I held her tight with closed eyes. as I heard the last call for the passengers,

"I'll see you soon." I promised her and she smiled at me as she hands me a pocket rosary we got from the church and was blessed by a priest.

After landing, I went home – not NYC, the one we leased in VA -  just to get dressed then head straight to HQ to report.

I was expecting to see my team in this room but all I saw were the SEAL's secondary unit. Before I could as questions Admiral Gibbs entered and started briefing us.

"Our Alpha1 unit went to a covert mission earlier this month..." why was I not informed about this fuck "...they were sent to rescue a US ambassador but on their way to the camp from the airport they were ambushed some were killed, injured and some were believed to be captives." As if reading my mind "apparently someone has leaked their position." I was about to ask a question when he spoke again "she has been apprehended and we know where are they being kept."

We were given orders and to ship out later tonight at 2300 hours then "Admiral, the reinforcement  has arrived." The radio came to live "send them in." Admiral Gibbs ordered

"Sir, who –" I wasn't able to finish my question cause Castro, Jane and the rest of our 1st batch Top11 emerged in the room, as they salute the Admiral they were motioned to take a seat he then continued "Mallard and McGee were believed to be captured while Reavis is still in a coma."

"since everyone's here, Bravo1 and 1st batch you will be dispatched to retrieve our men and Captain Grey will be your Team Leader. Captains Mallard and McGee are believed to be captives, you will get them home. Captain Grey will brief you about the whole mission." The Admiral left the room but I followed him

"Sir, why was I not informed about this mission? Im part of A1 and yet.." I paused shaking my head but more on controlling my emotions – I wasn't there for my men, my friends. "well son your father happened." Was all Admiral Gibbs before leaving me to my thoughts.

We wasted no time once we arrived at the location. we've spotted the old warehouse where Max and Mallard were held. It's heavily guarded, we need to be very cautious for these are not just some small time insurgents. We're able to penetrate the bldg without attracting anyone, thanks to our overwatch – Jane. She opposed this and insisted to be on the grounds with me but with her on the grounds with me definitely will give me the lower hand but she thinks otherwise I know she wants to be on the ground so she can watch my six but that's not really gonna happen it's either her or me to fly as the unit's team leader I say she'll fly. She can't go against it regardless of her reason for an order comes before life for all soldiers, but our way out is a different story. We were spotted and now taking fire, I asked my men – well B1 men – to take Mallard and Max to the bird. Over the radio, I heard Mallard is being attended by the medics while they're already telling us to leave but with these insurgents all over the place that wont be possible so I ordered them to leave if in 10minutes we're not there.

Max, Castro, West and Fuller didn't make it to the bird for they were ambushed on their way there. Jane, Brass, Jacobs and I were on our way to Max's location. We were forced to disperse for we're taking fire. Jane and I were with Max, I can see Max's getting paler Jane laid him to the ground and started shooting the insurgents minutes after the bird arrived and we had to rappel our way up, Brass had Max in his back as he rappel his way up followed by Jacobs then it's Jane and I's turn.

I was at the door when i felt a tug at my back and started to sting I fell out of the bird. I watched how Jane tried to reach for my hand and almost after me if not for Castro and Brass holding her I know she's screaming but I cant hear her nor feel anything as I descend before darkness consumed me I shook my head then smiled at her.
