MAX'S POV

It all happened in a blur and so damn fast. Last time I checked I was waving goodbye at my best friend and his wife then I was hung upside down then out of nowhere my best friend came to my aid then him falling off the chopper.

I felt someone's presence, I opened my eyes but was blinded with white light then I saw a silhouette of a woman and there's only one woman in combat uniform that I can think of who will be here with me

"Jane?" I called out I saw her collapsed as nurses came to her and placed her in a stretcher as they vanished in the hallway.

A nurse came to check on me, I took the opportunity to ask about Jane...

"the woman who has collapsed here a moment ago how is she?" adjusting my bed he answered "oh that, she's in the next room."

I walked over to the door next room with a pole where my IVs were attached and in a hospital gown. She wasn't alone Grey's parents were there so I knocked though I had pushed the door ajar their eyes darted to me but soften as they took over my appearance.

"good evening sir, ma'am... I'm Max McGee, Grey's my best friend and Jane's a good friend of mine." I introduced myself as I offered my hand to shake but Mrs. Grey embraced me instead as she sobs while Mr. Grey just tap my shoulder a few times while nodding.

I helped Mrs. Grey to the couch next to her husband as I get close to Jane's motionless body. She's in a hospital gown now just like me got several bruises but nothing deep til my eyes caught the gauze in her clavicle.

A nurse came to check her vital signs and the machines attached to her. "excuse me, could you tell me what's behind this gauze?" I asked the nurse as I eyed the one in her clavicle "it's a gunshot wound that fractured her clavicle." she replied.

I kept replaying the scenes to see where did Jane get that to no avail.

"uhm nurse, do you know what time the doctor will be here for updates on our daughter's condition?" Mr. Grey asked still consoling his wife.

"he'll be here in half an hour sir." The nurse replied before she left the room.

"Son, you need to rest. You don't have to worry about Jane, we'll stay with her." Mr. Grey told me "her parents' are on their way and in a couple of hours they'll be here." Mrs. Grey added

"if you don't mind sir, ma'am.. I wish to stay til the doctor has given us updates on Jane's condition." I plead

"okay then and thank you for being here for her." Mr. Grey replied "I'll go get coffee, do you want anything else?" Mrs. Grey asked "im not allowed have caffeine yet ma'am, anyway thank you."

"honey, call me Paula." She said sweetly and I just nod as she left the room.

I don't know if they already know what happened to Grey cause from the way they're acting it's as if nothing happened to Grey. Mr. Grey spoke and brought me out my reverie

"Son, if you don't mind me asking. Did my son suffered before... you know?" Mr. Grey asked softly voice breaking "I don't think he did sir. He didn't have any wounds prior to that shot. I can only imagine what your family is going through right now because what im feeling right now don't come close to what you're feeling. I am very sorry for your loss sir and it's an honor to finally meet the parents of my bestfriend and one of the most honorable person I've ever met." I replied as I held my best friend's father's hand then salute

I grew up without a father – the man abandoned my mom when she told her she's pregnant. Grey was not just a best friend from time to time he also fills in the shoes of a father for me. now, before me is a grieving father who deeply loves his son.
