She was late, oh what a good impression she was going to make on her first day. Her timetable had been graciously left on her bedside table thanks to Hermione who had already gone ahead to Divination. The Gryffindor student stumbled about, rushing to pull on her uniform and sort herself out whilst grabbing all needed books and shoving them into her messenger bag for the first lesson.
Her boots clicked against the empty halls of the castle, inwardly scolding herself for loving sleep so much as the reason for her staying in late. Scarlett's hair was a genuine mess, not being able to properly comb out of the defiant tresses so they ran in thick waves down her back.
She had actually been so late she had forgotten her jumper but still managed to shove her cloak in her bag as she sprinted along. Finally coming upon the ladder that lead to the Divination classroom, she clambered it quickly and walked down the corridor that took her to the open plan room filled with pouffes, beanbags, tables and glass orbs.
"Ah, how nice of you to finally join us. I had predicted your late awake dear" Professor Trewlaney announced.
Scarlett just raised her brows in suspicion at her, noticing the empty seat between Harry and Ron so she plopped down there and placed her stuff on the floor.
"What'd I miss? Where's Hermione?" She breathed, smoothing down her wild hair and opened up the Divination textbook onto the required page.
"Hermione left, not long after you got here. Don't think she'll be coming back." Harry stated, looking into a teacup and throwing Ron a look of boredom and suspicion.
"As for what you've missed? Not much" Ron brushed off, watching as Professor Trewlaney pushed a cup filled with tea towards her.
"Drink up dear, until all that's left are the dregs. Turn to either of your partners and allow them to read your future"
It all seemed rather idiotic to Scarlett, but she took the cup and drank it anyway, until all that remained was the dregs as instructed. Handing the mug to Ron, he looked into it before placing it besides Harry's.
"They're the same" he stated, brows furrowed in confusion as he flicked through the book to find what the images meant.
"The same you say? Gimme the cup dear, the cup!" She strained and Ron scrambled to do so.
The whole class seemed to freeze and the professor let out a shout and jumped backwards from Harry and Scarlett.
"My dear children, you have...The Grim"
"The grin? What's the grin?" A boy Ron and Harry knew to be called Seamus shouted out.
"Not the grin, you idiot. The grim. Taking form of a giant spectral dog, it's among the darkest omens in our world. It's an omen...of death"
Scarlett and Harry traded weary glances, but before either can speak, class is dismissed and the three leave in a hurry. Bag clutched right on her shoulder, she as well as Ron and Harry hurried to meet Hermione at the bridge. That was where they all began to tell her of the death omen predicted in the previous class, but Hermione, being just as skeptical as Scarlett brushes it off as they head to their next class.
Care for magical creature with Hagrid. According to Scarlett's three new friends, this Hagrid was a great friend of there's and an extremely nice man who had a large heart for any type of creature possible.Scarlett knew from the way they talked about this 'Hagrid', she would enjoy this class majorly due to her also loving many types of creature due to Charlie introducing her to many and showing her some through teaching her on days of from work.
Sure enough, she was absolutely sure she would love all his future lessons the minute he introduced today's creature.
