She was late, again. Hermione had tried several time to rouse her from her slumber, but nothing worked. So, instead, she awoke once falling from her four poster bed, letting out a pained cry as her eye smacked of the bed side table. That was sure to bruise.
Grumbling and cursing to herself, she pulled on her uniform, abandoning the thought of pulling on her cloak and jumper and instead utilising the time to drag a comb though her hair. Once looking presentable, she slung her bag over her shoulder and bounded out of the Gryffindor tower for the DADA classroom.Pushing the creaky door open, she had all eyes on her as the red head placed her bag on the side and moved to stand with her three friends.
"Sorry I'm late Professor Lupin, I slept in" she rubbed her neck sheepishly, earning a chuckle from Lupin who brushed of her tardiness and resumed the lesson.
They were facing a boggart, and the Gryffindor students burst into laughter as Neville's biggest fear that just so happened to be Professor Snape was whipped into drag clothing.
"Alright, to the back now Neville. Everybody form a line and be ready with your wands"
Scarlett brandished her wand, instantly catching Hermione admiration for it to which the red head flushed and thanked her. Laughter filled the classroom each time someone defeated their fear and Scarlett deeply sympathised with Ron's fear as she goo wasn't that fond of spiders.
It was Scarlett's turn before she knew it, wand raised wearily as she stole a quick glance at Lupin who leered forward upon seeing her step to the front. Was that a look of longing? Remembrance? Shock?
Scarlett didn't understand. She didn't have time to, not when the boggart was morphing into her supposed worse fear.Stood before her, was a large, black shaggy dog. Yellow eyes glaring up at her as it snarled and snapped its jaw at her. The Grim. However, it wasn't The Grim that she feared, she didn't believe in that bloody death omen after all, the dog stemmed from a memory, a very different memory, and Lupin seemed to know what as he subtly staggered backwards.
She grasped her wand tighter, the blue jewel atop of it illuminating as she kept her gaze on the black dog that raised its hackles and slowly advanced."Riddikulus!"
Crack!
Stood where the dog was previously was a small kitten wrapped in yarn and the whole class seemed to coo as Scarlett let out a sigh of relief before moving to the back of line. Next was Harry. She had anticipated for that boggart to shift into Lord Voldemort but was rather shocked as a Dementor took the kittens place.
Lupin diverted the boggart instantly, a white orb shifting immediately as he cast the charm and sent the deflated boggart flying back into the closet. Class was dismissed and instantly, Scarlett seemed to have all the proof she needed to know one thing.
"He's not just a wizard"
"Scarlett?" Hermione called. "I thought you said that tea leaves prediction didn't bother you?"
She shook her head. "It's not that..." she faltered. "That dog, it's plagued many of my nightmares and I seem to recall it being in a memory. My minds just too foggy to remember"
They left the topic untouched after that, heading to their next class that seemed to whizz by in a flash.
Already, Scarlett was wishing to return back to Romania to see Charlie, AJ and Alas. She was happy at Hogwarts though, and did not regret the transfer one bit.
