Its been two days since I set everything up with the HHS. Today is the day I travel almost halfway across the country to a deserted place also known as Hurricane Island. I have to be on the plane by seven fifteen and it is currently five so I still have time to sort everything out.
I haul my luggage through the hall of my apartment and I almost trip over my own feet a couple of times but I manage to get it all neatly settled.
I dust my hands in a swift motion with a nod of my head. "There. Now to call the taxi and get it downstairs." My hand reaches for the phone in my pocket and I dial the agency to send me a taxi to pick me up. I give them my address and place my phone back in my pocket.
I pick up my luggage again with a groan and I take the suitcases down the halls and into the elevator.
Ding
The doors open and I heft my suitcases down the narrow halls and into the lobby. My eyes search around for someone to watch them and my eyes fall on Mr. Waters. A smile grows on my face and I walk towards him with the luggage rolling behind me.
"Hey, Mr Waters!" I call out. His head moves to my direction and a small smile grows on his face.
"Emery, what can I do for you?" He says with the smile still present.
"Uh, I was wondering if you could watch my suitcases for a bit while I get the other ones." I said and motioned towards them.
"Okay sure, I'll be right here." He nods. I mutter a 'thanks' before running back to the elevator and scurrying down the hall for my other things. My camera carrier, a medium luggage bag,and I'm already carrying my shoulder bag that I'll take with me in the plane along with my camera bag. I reach the lobby and spot Mr. Waters standing next to my suitcases and looking around. I walk up to him and stop a few feet away to try and pick the other things up.
"Thanks Mr. W. Sorry to bother you again but can you help me take these outside?"I chuckle.
"Ya ya. And I've told you Emery. Just call me Andrew." He chuckles too. He's told me that many times but I choose not to because... well I don't know really but I just like Mr. Waters better.
"I know, Andrew and thanks again," I emphasize. He shakes his head and grabs my item on the floor and we roll them to the outside of the apartment building.
"May I ask, where are you going?" I hesitate to answer him but I decide on giving him the partial truth. I don't need him to tell me anything disapproving right now. I got enough of that from Daisy.
"I'm uh going to Maine. Just to travel a bit and get away from it all," I come up with something quick. It is partially true because I have planned on getting out of California for a trip for a while now. I just needed to get away from all the noise and craziness, so I guess this is a good excuse for it.
"Yah, it's good to get out once in a while." He says and puts the suitcases down on the outside of the building. "You're getting a taxi?"He faces me.
"Uhu. It should be here in..." I glimpse at the watch placed on my wrist. "About a few minutes, I think."
"Ok we- I think it's here," He says and points behind me. I turn around and sure enough a taxi rolls to a stop alongside the curb. I take a deep breath and pat my sides.
"Well Mr. Waters I guess I-,"
"Andrew," He corrects.
"Well Andrew," I roll my eyes but shake off a small laugh. "I guess I'll see you in a couple of days,"
I step up to him and engulf him in a warm hug and he does the same. "Be safe Emery. I'll tell Grace when I get back up." He kisses my forehead lightly. Something he usually does but my dad never did.
"Ok Andrew. See you, bye." I wave at him and the taxi man helps me lift my things into the car while Mr. Waters goes back inside. I give the man directions to the airport and we drive there with little to no traffic.

"Flight for seven fifteen now boarding.". The voice over the speaker speaks with a robot like voice. I lift my weight off the rough airport seat and walk up to the line already forming for my flight. I adjust my side bag and camera carrier and sift throught the inside of it for my passport to show. I already checked in my other suitcases and all I have with me now is my small bags. The line moves little by little until I'm up front. I show it to the lady and my other things too. I board the plane and look for my seat. Once I find it, I place my bags in the compartment and take a seat with a sigh.
For a few minutes I'm alone while the other people also board the plane. I close me eyes and rub them with the palm of my hand to move the sleepiness away. I woke up at around five to get ready and I'm still tired. I'm not a morning person.
"Hey," Someone says and I feel the seat next to me go down a little. I open my eyes and turn my face to be met with another girl. She looks around my age and I mutter a 'hi' before a small frown over takes my face and I look away before the uneasy feeling of jealousy begins to take over me. I don't really like meeting new people because I start learning more about them and just regretting meeting them right after because I start wanting everything they have. Then that leaves to me usually doing some stupid things. I've done it in the past and I regret it so much.
"What's your name?" The girl asks. I internally groan but force a smile and look at her.
"Emery." I simply say. I just want this conversation to end but she seems on having other ideas.
"Emery...?" She continues.
"Collins. Emery Collins." I say and she nods. The stewardess starts showing what to do incase of an emergency but I block out most of what she is saying. The plane soon begins to rumble and I grip the sides of my seat. The plane begins to lift up and I take a breath. I actually like the feeling unlike most of the people I know. They find it weird but I don't see what's wrong about it. The plane goes higher and higher until it flies smoothly through the air. I relax and close my eyes to take a quick nap.
"Jenny. Jenny Curtis.". The girl says and I sigh but force a smile once again and nod.
"Nice name," I mutter.
"Thanks. Where you heading?" Can she not see I'm trying to not talk to her?
"Maine."
"Me too. And I think all these other people to since this is a flight to Maine," She chuckles. "Where in Maine?" She asks.
"Just a part. Listen sorry but I'm really tired. I woke up early and I would like to get some sleep," I didn't mean to sound so rude but I'm just cranky in the mornings.
"It's okay. I get it." She says seeming unaffected.
"Thanks Jenny." She nods and my head falls back on my seat. I sigh with closed eyes and fall into deep sleep.
