Elena POV

Rae and George had sex. I didn’t know they were dating. I was sad that she didn’t tell me anything. But then again I had been avoiding them for a month. I’m not surprised that I wasn’t told that they were together.

The whole house had a study hall with another house. Professor McGonagall was in charge. I was sitting next to Alicia and Oliver. Fred sat down across from me. I acted like I hadn’t noticed. I used to be so into my work that I wouldn’t notice anyone sitting in front of me.

“Lena,” he said. I could hear the annoyance in his voice. I had finished my work. I was just making sure it sounded good. “Elena Nicole Lupin!” I jumped at the sound of my full name.

“Can I help you,” I said annoyed.

“Why are you avoiding us?” he was sad.

“Now you decide you want to care. I don’t have time for this.” I got up and showed the professor my work. Oliver followed suit. Fred got up and grabbed my arm.

“I’ve always cared. Rae misses you.”

“Like hell she does! She doesn’t care about me at all. She doesn’t want to be my sister even though we’re blood.” He looked confused. “She didn’t tell you? Why don’t you ask her what I mean? I bet she’ll get a real laugh too. I love Rae and I care about her and I always will but she doesn’t care. I get hurt all the time by it. I’m done with the hurt.” I walked off on the verge of tears.

I heard Fred yell, “No, wonder she wants to have Christmas with my family. You’re a cold hearted bitch. I don’t know what I saw in you.”

“Are you okay?” Oliver asked softly. I shook my head. We quickly entered. I was sitting on the couch by myself when Harry entered. He sat next to me.

“Hello, Harry,” I smiled at him.

“Is it alright if I ask you about the night our mothers died?” he asked warily. I nodded.

“What do you want know?”

“Anything,” he was so curious.

“Well, I’m your cousin. Our mothers were cousins. I don’t know if my father has told you that.”

“No. How? My mother was a Muggle-Born!”

“My grandfather was a wizard and he married a muggle. My mother was a half-blood witch.” He nodded as I continue. “I don’t know how I remember. I have nightmares about it. I was on a broom flying around. Your mum was holding you. You had fallen off your broom. I think we were racing. Your father came running in and said, “Hide the kids! He’s coming! He knows we’re here!” He went pale I continued. “I swear I wasn’t followed! I made sure,” my mom said picking me up. I started crying and my mom tried shushing me. She walked toward your changing table and hid me in the cabinet. She was going to help your mother protect mother. I saw our mothers go down and a spell was cast.” I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone that the spell hit me too.

Harry was crying at this point. “I’m sorry.”

“Why?” I was confused.

“Your mum died protecting me.”

I smiled and gave Harry a hug. “No, she was protecting us. Now do you need help with anything homework wise?”

“No. Hermione has already helped. Thank you for telling me what happened. I always had questions but no one had answers.”

“It’s okay. If you ever need to talk, I’ll always be there.”

“Thanks.” Harry went to change out of his uniform.

After dinner, Rae came into the common room with a package that I’d wrapped for her. I’d set it on her bed earlier. It was a birthday and Christmas present.

“What’s this?” she hadn’t opened it. I had bought if for her during the last trip to Hogsmead.

“It’s your birthday present, Rae. I figured I’d give you it early. I found something you’d like.”

“You think I’d want to take it from you after you avoid me this last month? Elena, I’m sorry but I can’t take it until you give me an answer as to why you’ve been doing so.”

“Oliver thought it would be a good idea since I know you don’t want to be my sister. I care about you and I love you but you act like you’re always alone. Dad and I love you but you act like you’re forced to be at home. I’m glad you want to be with George your boyfriend for Christmas. It’ll be different without you.”

“You’re always up his arse. Fred deserves better than you. I hope he finds it.”

“So I really am a cold hearted bitch. I’ll see you later.” I went upstairs crying. I wished my dad hadn’t told her. Things would’ve been different. I cried myself to sleep
