Chapter 6

"Missing." Lunette repeated. "What do you mean?"

"I woke up this morning and she was just gone." Lissa cried. "We looked everywhere. And I couldn't think of a better place than with you that she would be."

"Why would she be here with me?!" Lunette growled. "You two made it pretty clear that you wanted nothing to do with me after..." She trailed off glancing around her.

"We were shocked and it is really hard to believe, you have to understand that." Lissa replied, her voice rising.

"I do understand. But you definitely did not have to react the way you did." Lunette snapped, thinking back to the day she told them who she really was and what she could do. Their reaction was with anger. They turned everyone against Lunette. They rejected her. She was forced to be removed from the lieutenant position because as a goddess she can't take the oath until she is a matured goddess at age sixteen. Everyone was outraged and refused to speak with her. Artemis sent Lunette to Camp Half-Blood to escape from the Hunters and for the rebellion mission. Despite Lunette's protests to go to the Hunters mutual most hated place, she had no choice.

Lissa hung her head in guilt, going back in time like Lunette. "We all had taken the oath, Lunette. You didn't, and you were lieutenant."

"I wasn't old enough dammit!" Lunette screamed. Her fists clenched at her sides as she fumed with rage that had bottled up inside for too long. There was a commotion outside as the other demigods watched as the calm waters of the lake turn into choppy waves five feet high. The waves coming dangerously close to the camp. Lexi had stepped outside to see what all the commotion was about. As she caught sight of the water she ran back in and appeared in front of Lunette.

"Lunette calm down. Whatever mistakes your friends have made in the past happened in the past. Its time to forgive." Lexi placed a hand on the young goddess' shoulder.

Lunette snapped her head up and jerked away from Lexi. She stared threatening at her. "You don't know me." She said, venom laced in her voice. "You don't understand what I have gone through. You call this girl in front of me my friend? She is not my friend. She never was. A real friend would accept me and not turn against me." Lunette's voice faltered and she looked up to the other three people in the room, tears rimming her eyes. She turned and ran, past the other demigods outside and into the forest. She ran until her tears blurred her vision and she had to stop. Lunette climbed the nearest tree and leaned against the trunk. She could no longer hear the camp activities only the silence of nature that surrounded her.

A branch snapped behind her and she turned her head in that direction. She cautiously pulled out her bow and an arrow. Jumping to her feet she looked behind the tree and found a wounded animal. It's form was dimly lit by the moon's light. She crouched down to examine the animal and found it was no ordinary animal. It was a Pegasus. It's midnight black fur was matted down with blood. She glanced around the forest for any sign of danger and found none. She slung her bow on her back and slowly extended her hand towards the pegasus. She stroked the beast gently. She looked around, not knowing what step to take next. A light bulb went off in her head. She tugged at the water from a puddle a few feet away from her and started to heal the animal with the water. She placed her hands on the pegasus and closed her eyes. She gave the animal half of her power. Unfortunately, the pegasus still didn't have enough strength to stand.

She sighed. "I'll be right back," she told the pegasus. Lunette stood weakly and started into the direction of the camp. She stumbled through the dark forest. Nothing but the moon lit her way back. It seemed that she had walked in circles. Her head was spinning with the loss of power. Lunette tripped over a branch and struggled to pull herself up. Black spots appeared before her eyes as she struggled to stay conscious. When she thought it coudn't get any worse a large, dark figure appeared before her. Lunette looked up to see a fifteen foot monster towering above her. Before she could grab her bow the monster's hand knocked her off her feet. She struggled to stand and loaded her bow. She shot once and missed him by a good ten feet. Her second arrow hit him in one of its three eyes. The monster cried out in pain and stumbled back, causing the ground to shake and Lunette to fall.
