Chapter 16~  Travis's POV

I layed in this stupid hospital bed. I don't even know why I am still here. I was hit by a car, so what! I was a wolf when it happened. It barely hurt. I simply have 2 broken ribs and bruises...everywhere. However, I didn't feel any of it. Wolf powers are super strong. It takes a lot to hurt you.

The only thing I could think of was Riley. How much she will worry. How much she will freak out. I wonder if they have told her yet. They told me they would watch out for her and protect her, but did they tell her I'm in here? God I'll kill Greg if he didn't. If he didn't... she's probably thinking I'm avoiding her, or going to dump her or something.

But we are mates! Not just boyfriend and girlfriend. Mates are for life. If I lost her... I'd lose all sense of power and I'd have to leave the pack. Both her or I would become a lone wolf and suffer alone. That's what always happens. Atleast that's what happened with my father, when my mother died.

He ran away... he had no choice. His mind was lost somewhere. He kept imagining that she was still with him. But the pack rejected him and left him to go on his own. He had no choice but to take me with him. I'm so thankful to have him. Without my father and mother, I wouldn't be who I am today. I wouldn't be the famous Travis Jacobs, for godsakes! I'm a legend. But I consider myself nothing without Riley.

I heard running down the hall. I heard a girl yelling outside of my room. A lot of footsteps grew close. I'm thinking it's the guys with Cathy. I doubt Greg told Riley. I will kill him. Suddenly the door flew open and I saw a girl fly into my room and stare at me at the foot of my hospital bed. My vision adjusted to see who she was.

My baby, Riley. Stood there crying her heart out, staring at me with red, cloudy eyes. Her face looked terrified. I could only feel horrible because I put her through this worry. It was a simple accident. "Baby, I'm so sorry..." I said to her. She shook her head and bent down so I couldn't see her.

"What happened?" She asked me slowly, trying to sound like she wasn't crying.

"I was running from something, I don't know what. But as I ran through I road, I didn't notice the car coming at me, faster than I could run. So I was hit, then I shifted." I said simply.

"Stupid..." She broke through softly.

"I know I'm stupid..." I looked away.

"I'm so stupid for thinking stupid things. I'm an idiot!" She yelled still hiding.

"Babe..." I said softly. I watched as she slowly stood up to look at me. Tears streaming down her cheeks. I waved at her. "Come here." I smiled. She quickly ran over to me and carefully got into bed with me. She snuggled into my chest carefully. Suddenly I felt normal again. She healed me, with one touch. I kissed the top of her head. "I love you, Riley." I kissed her head again.

"I love you too Travis." She squeezed tighter.
