"Say what?! I can't believe you're-!"
"Shh! Be quiet!"
I hushed Itori while covered her mouth with both hands as she was being too loud. It's been a couple months since Hide and I started dating. Our relationship was great, but it was getting harder for me to keep my secret of being a ghoul.
"Oh, this is just so wonderful! Little Kaori is all grown up and has a boyfriend!" Itori cheered, hugging me close to her chest. "I'm not even that little." I said into her chest in a blunt tone, but I don't think she heard because my words were muffled.
I pulled away from her. "Just keep it down. I don't want Touka to hear-"
"Dont want me to hear what?" Touka said from behind me. I gasped and quickly turning around. "Nothing!" I said quickly. "Kaori has a boyfriend! They've been going out for a couple months now!" Itori said, smiling.
"Itori!" I yelled. "You have a boyfriend?! Why didn't you tell me?!" Touka said. "Because I knew you'd react like this." I replied. "Our little Kaori is all grown up. Pretty soon, she'll get married and-"
"That's enough, Itori!" I said, covering her mouth with both hands again. "Aw, there's nothing to be shy about, Kaori!" Touka said, laughing. My face was completely red with embarrassment. "I need to get back to work!" I said, grabbing a rag and wiping down the tables.
After a long day of working, I was ready to go home and take a nap. I still had about five minutes until closing time. I decided to finish up my work so I could leave on time. As I was sweeping the floor, my phone vibrated in my pocket, telling me someone was calling me. Probably Dad. "Hello?" I answered.
"Hey, Kaori. It's Hide."
"Oh. Hi, Hide. What's up?"
"Do you wanna watch a movie tonight at my house?"
"Sure."
"Cool. I'll pick you up in five minutes."
"Okay. See you then."
"Later."
I hung up and went back to work. When I was finished, I said goodnight to everyone and left Anteiku as Hide was waiting for me. "Ready to go?" He asked, smiling. "Yeah." I answered, smiling back. We left Anteiku, heading to his house.
"You have a nice home." I commented. "It isn't much." He said as he took off his shoes. I did the same with mine and set them near the door. Hide and I went to the living room and we watched a movie called, Howl's Moving Castle.
We sat side by side on the couch as we enjoyed the movie. "Hide..." I said. "Hmm? What's the matter?" He asked. "Would you still like me... if I was different?" I asked. "What do you mean?" Hide asked, pausing the movie. "If was somebody else... would you still... like me?" I asked.
"Kaori, I'll like you no matter what. You're my girlfriend. You mean everything to me." Hide commented. I looked at him with a blush before quickly looking down at my lap "Charming words for a loudmouthed clown." My inner self commented. I quickly shushed her.
"Why do you ask, anyway?" Hide asked. "...No reason." I said. "Sooner or later, you're gonna have to tell him the truth. The truth about you being a ghoul." My inner self. She's right. I can't hide who I really am. But what if Hide stops liking me because I'm a creature that eats flesh? "Kaori." Hide said. I looked at him as he took my chin and leaned forward.
My eyes widened when I noticed he was going to kiss. At that moment, my hunger for flesh grew. I closed my eyes tightly and shoved him away. "Kaori, what's the matter?" Hide asked. "I..." I trailed off as my hunger was starting to take control.
