You hear the alarm ring and shoot up out of bed.  It's your first day of school, and you can't be late.  You can't wait to see Dan, and so you try to look your best.  You've had a crush on him ever since your best friend, Phil, introduced you a few years ago.  Looking through your dresser, you find your favorite band's t-shirt and a pair of jeans. Putting them on, you look around for your sneakers.  You finally find them under your bed, and you slip them on.
You walk out of your room and grab something to eat.  Your mom isn't awake. She doesn't take you to school anymore,  you walk to Phil's house down the street everyday to carpool with him.  You went into the bathroom to brush your hair and brush your teeth.  It was 6:50, and you needed to start walking to Phil's house.  You heard the door to your mother's room open, but luckily your brother, Noah, was there to save you.  He stepped out and started talking about college. She immediately shut the door. He walked out and gave you a thumbs up, and you both waved goodbye as you walked out the door.

You arrived at Phil's house, and saw he was sitting with Dan on the porch.  Dan's beautiful brown hair and brown eyes were just as you remembered them, and he had on his usual black clothing from head to toe. Your heartbeat sped up as you looked at him, and you hoped you looked okay.
He lived next door to Phil, but he never rode to school with the both of you.  You started walking toward them, and Phil saw you. He tapped Dan on the shoulder, and he looked up to see you and waved. You sat down on the porch next to them.
"Hey Y/N," Phil said greeting you with a smile,"I hope you don't mind, I forgot to tell you that Dan is going to start riding to school with us!"

Dan's POV:

I smiled at her, feeling nervous.

"I don't mind at all, sounds great!" she said smiling back at me.

I felt like I could barely keep my eyes open, I hadn't slept well last night. I let out a tiny yawn, and she giggled. She's so cute. Why do you have to be like this Dan? She probably doesn't even like you. Why would anyone like you? You're an awkward, antisocial nerd with barely any friends. In fact, you only have one friend, and that's Phil. She and I rarely see eachother, she is never at Phil's house at the same time as me , and at school's we only pass eachother in the halls occasionally.
The door opened and out came Phil's mother.
"Ready to go?" she said holding her purse.
"Yep," Phil said standing up looking at Y/N and I.
We got up and went to the car with her.

Your POV:

"The front seat is full of clutter, so the three of you will have to squeeze together in the back," Phil's mom said.
This made you nervous. Phil got in the back first, and you got in the middle. Dan followed quickly behind. It was very awkward and quiet between the three of you squeezed together. Phil's mom started talking positively about how it was a new start and a new year. It was hard to be motivated by this when you already felt that just because it was a new school year, that doesn't make it any better than the last. The car ride to school tended to be at least twenty minutes long.
After a while you felt Dan's head land on your shoulder, and your heart skipped a beat. He had fallen asleep. You could hear his breathing in your ear, and you began to feel it on your neck. You looked over to see the cute he face made when he slept. You smiled, and didn't dare wake him. Phil didn't seem to notice, he had been looking out the window the entire time.
