After that, there wasn't much else to do. Both you and Dan didn't really enjoy big parties or social events, so you both decided that you two would just leave the dance together early.
"Are you sure you don't want to come with?" you asked Phil and Lori.
"Nah, you guys both go ahead, we'll have fun," Lori replied with a reassuring smile.
You and Dan said goodbye to them both, and walked out of the gym. As you stepped up to the doorway, you felt cool misty air hit your skin. Looking outside, you saw that it was pouring rain, and neither of you had an umbrella. Dan started to take off his jacket for you to use to keep dry.
"Oh, Dan you really don't have to do that for me.."
He shook his head. "Y/N, I know I don't, but I won't let you get all cold and wet either," he protested as he put it on you. He rubbed your arm, and you kissed him to say thank you. The moment you stepped outside the door you were both soaked with rain, and so you both ran to the car as fast as you possibly could while you held his jacket above your head. You forgot where it was parked, but Dan remembered and helped guide the way. Once you made it to the car, the both of you hopped inside quickly and slammed the car doors shut before too much water could get in the car.
"We made it,"he sighed.
Both of you were breathing heavily, trying to catch your breath. That was the most exercise either one of you would get that week. You swiped the wet hair away from your face and looked back at the gym from the car window to see how far you'd run. It was twice what you remembered the distance being before. You hadn't realized it had been such a far distance away.
The sound of the rain tapping on the windshield of the car and the nice mist surrounding you both felt calm and relaxing, but you could still find Dan complaining about how wet the both of you had gotten as he started the car and drove off. You held his hand and rubbed circles in the back of it, which made him relax his nerves and the corners of his mouth curled up into a shy smile. He still kept his eyes on the road infront of him. Once you were at a stoplight he kissed your cheek, and then your hand as he continued to hold it in his making you smile. It was a nice, peaceful drive through the city. Once you had reached your street, Dan pulled into the driveway of his house. You noticed no other cars were in it.
"My parents said they'd be going out for dinner while we were at the dance together, so they must still be out considering we left a few hours early," he said looking at the empty driveway and then to you,"should we just make a run for it?"
You nodded at him, and you both burst out of the car and into the rain together long enough to make it to the door. Of course, you got soaked again. Dan took out his key and unlocked the door. He held the door open and let you in first, before hurrying in quickly behind you.
It was pitch black inside, but you heard the click of Dan flipping on a lightswitch and the room lit up. You looked up and saw that the switch also turned on a ceiling fan above the both of you. The air brushed against your wet skin making you shiver. Dan looked at you with concern.
"Do you want me to get you some dry clothes?" he asked. His wet shirt was clinging to his body, and his teeth chattered as he spoke.
"Yeah, that'd be nice," you responded with slight concern,"but what about you?"
He shook his head and put an arm around your back as he guided you to his bedroom. "I'll find something, don't worry about me."
It was dimly lit when you stepped inside. The only light that was on was a small bedside table lamp. He let go of you and stepped over to his dresser. You watched as he looked through the drawers and pulled out some clothes that you could wear.
"Here is something you can change into,"he mumbled as he handed them to you,"I'll just go and um- give you some privacy."
After he left, you got up and looked at yourself in the mirror before taking off your dress. The skirt of it was covered in mud, and your hair was sopping wet. Everything was completely drenched. Luckily, you were wearing waterproof makeup. You sighed and let down your hair (ignore that if you don't have long enough hair to put it up or just imagined it down).
You kicked off your shoes and unzipped your dress. The straps slid off of your shoulders and you watched as it fell to the floor. Just then Dan walked through the door casually talking to you, but you were too surprised to notice what he was saying. He didn't know you weren't done changing yet, and you had taken a pretty long time as it was. He was pulling his shirt up off over his head, so he couldn't see you. You quickly covered yourself by getting on his bed and getting underneath a blanket. He threw his wet shirt in the hamper. You couldn't help but stare at his beautiful, porcelain skin.
"Sorry I just had to take that off, it was freezing," he muttered shyly before turning to you and realizing you weren't done changing.
He immediately blushed and you giggled. He was so awkward, it was too precious. His deep chocolate brown eyes widened as they looked back at yours. It was so easy to get lost in them. He found himself slowly walking over and laying down on the bed beside you as combed your hair through his fingers. He smiled warmly at you, and you kissed him. As you did, you felt him relax in your arms. You cupped his cheeks, deepening the kiss.
He leaned over you, and you felt his soft bare skin on his chest pressing up against yours as his lips trailed their way down your neck, and you pulled down at his pants for him to take them off. He quickly removed them, and you were both only left in your underwear, which you quickly removed as well. His lips returned to yours, and his fingertips brushed against your ears as they twisted your hair.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"he breathed.
You nodded your head. "I'm sure."
He pulled out a condom and opened it quickly. Your arms wrapped around his back, and you crashed your lips back together.
"I love you," he said. The words softly escaped his lips before crashing back into yours.
You smiled into the kiss and whispered through the both of your heavy breathing,"I love you too."
