Your face still hurt a little, she hit you hard.  This was going to be a terrible weekend.

Your Mom's POV:

I never notice if she's here or not, but she should have enough respect for me to ask.  Her phone buzzed and the screen said 'One New Message'.  I threw it in the trash.
I thought maybe she had gotten a job so she could make me some money, but she's just been hanging out with those two guys.

Your POV:

You heard a knock at your door and braced yourself, but when the door opened it was just Noah.
"Thank God it's you, I thought you were mom coming in here to scold me some more."
"Sorry I wasn't here for you, I just got home," he said putting a hand on your shoulder.
"It's alright, it's not your fault."
He turned toward the door and said,"Well, I guess I'll see you in the morning."

You didn't sleep well at all that night.  You had a bad feeling in your stomach, and you desperately wanted to talk to Dan or Phil. The weekend seemed to last forever, and you couldn't wait for school.

It was Monday and you did your daily morning routine as usual. When you walked out of the house and onto the porch your brother was waiting for you in the driveway.
"Sorry Y/N, mom is making me drive you to school now," he said opening the passenger side door for you.
You sat inside wishing you were squeezed between your two best friends.
"She is trying to get you away from your friends, but I think you'll get to see them," he said smiling sympathetically,"I promise."
You tried to smile back, but you just felt awful.
He started driving, and you passed Phil's house. You could see he and Dan waiting for you, and you wished you could tell them why you weren't there.
When you made it to school you tried to find them, but you couldn't so you headed to first period. At least you could see Dan there right?

You walked in the classroom and Dan was resting his head on his desk. He looked pale. You walked over and sat down beside him at your desk.
"Are you ok?"
He signed and looked down shaking his head.
You looked at him, worried.
"Why didn't you answer my text?" he said under his breath, but you could hear him clearly.
"What text?" you asked.
You forgot your mom took your phone.  He looked at you confused.
"What do you mean 'What text?',"he asked," You never got it?"

Mrs. Parsons interrupted the whole class," Alright silence everyone!"
She tapped on her podium with a pencil.

You and Dan had to stop talking and listen to her lesson.  Neither one of you were paying much attention though, you were busy thinking about the text and remembered you didn't have your phone.  How did you forget?  Dan kept looking at you differently.  Needless to say something was very off.
At the end of class Dan came up to you.
"Wait, Y/N, why didn't you get my text?"

You said,"I'll tell you at lunch,"and then you hurried to your next class.

So later that day at lunch you finally got to sit down with your two friends.
"Hey Y/N," Phil said," why weren't you there to ride to school with us this morning?"
Dan was sitting next to Phil, and he leaned in so that he could listen very closely to what you said.
"Ok so," you began," I wouldn't want you guys to worry about me."
"Why would we need to worry?" Phil asked.
"My mom hit me when I got home Friday," you whispered,"and it wasn't the first time either."

Both of their jaws dropped.
"What," Dan said in a serious tone looking at you straight in the eyes.
"She took my phone, I don't think she likes for me to have friends."
They both looked at you in shock.
"She doesn't have a job, so she makes me and my brother work instead," you sighed,"and I don't have one."

Phil hugged you for a short moment, trying not to embarrass you.
"So who drove you to school today?" he asked.
"My brother."
"I'm sorry that happened to you," Phil said.
Dan was still quiet and seemed to be in deep thought.
"It's alright it isn't your fault."

Time Skip

You got into the car with your brother and waved goodbye to Dan and Phil.  Your phone was sitting in your seat.
"I found it in the trash in mom's room, I figured it might make you feel better," he said,"just don't let mom know you have it."

You turned on the phone.

"One new message."
