Later that evening, you and Dan both decided to do some homework together for Mrs. Parsons' class. You were laying on your bed with your body rested against his. He put his arms around you as he held the book in his lap. His fingers brushed the hair away from your face.
"So, what was it that you were trying to hide from me in the car earlier?"
"W-What? I wasn't hiding anything?" you stammered.
Your eyes wandered the room with guilt. He giggled and kissed you on the cheek.
"Phil telling us he has a crush normally wouldn't make you so happy that you'd literally scream. Nevertheless while I'm driving,"he giggled.
You laughed a bit too hard in response, and he seemed even more curious after that.
"Y/N, do you know something?" he inquired.
You couldn't help but grin. You tried to hide it by turning your face away from his view which made him chuckle.
"You do, don't you?"
You bit your lip, trying to stop yourself from smiling.
"Oh, come on," he pleaded,"you can trust me, I won't tell."
You turned toward him. Lori never said you couldn't tell Dan.. She said you couldn't tell Phil.
"You promise not to tell?"
"I promise."
You sighed and took a deep breath.
"Lori told me she likes Phil."
His eyes widened and his jaw dropped. He squealed almost like you do when you fangirl.
"Oh my God! She likes him too, that's great!"
"I know right?" you squeaked.
He paused for a moment.
"Wait, why can't we tell him, he likes her back?"
"I made a promise not to tell him," you groaned,"I wish I could."
"Well this sucks, can't we at least give them both a bit of um.. gentle push?"
You shrugged, but nodded your head in agreement.
"Do you have Lori's number?"
"No, but I can get it from her in school tomorrow," you answered.
"Okay, and maybe we can invite her over here?"
"That could work," you whispered to yourself and nodded your head at him.
So, you got her number the next day at school and invited her over to your house. She said she would try to make it. So, you and Dan both waited hopefully for her arrival while also trying not to let Phil know what you were up to. You had both agreed to stay inside your room so that they would be alone.
Phil's POV:
I was sitting up in my room watching TV when to my surprise, I heard the doorbell ring. Who could that be? Everyone was already home, and Dan was hanging out with Y/N alone downstairs. I walked downstairs and opened the door.
It was Lori. She smiled at me and tucked her hair behind her ear.
"Hi Phil," she said.
It made my heart spin when she said my name.
"Um, hi," I said awkwardly,"here, come in."
I sat down with her on the couch, and the room was silent. Did Y/N invite her? Maybe I should go get her. I looked over at Lori, and she had already been looking at me. She blushed when our eyes met and opened her mouth to speak.
"It's really hard making friends when you first move anywhere," she began.
"Yeah,"I muttered.
"I'm lucky I met you guys, or I would have been all alone."
"Awe, well thanks. I'm lucky to have met you," I replied, and I immediately regretted it.
The words just flew out of my mouth. She must think I'm a creepy weirdo. I glanced over at her. She was smiling. Maybe it wasn't too weird? No, no it was. Maybe I should try to correct myself.
"Sorry, that came out wrong-"
She kindly interrupted,"No, it was sweet really, don't worry about it."
I noticed her blushing again out of the corner of my eye, and I looked over at her. She had been staring down at her hands, quietly.
"Ya know I had no friends at my old school," she mumbled,"I was bullied a lot."
I stared at her.
"What? Why? Why would anyone bully you? You're amazing,"I blurted out," who could be blind enough not to see how incredible you are?"
Again I said something really stupid. She laughed, but it was true. She's so nice, and not to mention she's absolutely breathtaking. Everything about her just seems perfect, even though I know that isn't possible. She's perfectly imperfect.
"They all thought I was too weird," she sighed,"my only friend didn't even want anyone to know she had anything to do with me."
She held her head in her hands in shame.
"Oh really," I challenged,"name one thing about you that was quote 'too weird'."
"Hm.."she thought,"well, I have a fear of horses."
I chuckled, and she looked even more nervous at this.
"I'm afraid of horses too! People think it's weird, but I find it perfectly reasonable," I replied.
"No way!" she said in surprise
"Yep,"I said with a smile,"I don't trust their legs or intentions. Also one time I actually rode one at 'Horse World' and when I got home a load of black liquid ran out of my nose? Suspicious." (yes, I quoted him from TABINOF)
She giggled.
"Thanks Phil," she said with a smile.
I smiled back,"No problem."
The door to Y/N's room flew open, and she and Dan both tumbled out. Had they been listening this whole time?
