"It's just um, things might not turn put like we planned," I say gulping and putting my hand on my belly. His eyes widen.
"You mean...?" I bite my lip and nod. I let out a sob.
"I'm so sorry." Tears openly flowing now. He rushes to me and hugs me.
"Oh, honey, why didn't you tell me sooner? I've noticed you've seemed a bit off for a while. Wait how long?"
"Well, it's been about 10 weeks. We've been home for a little over 2 months so..." He smiles.
"As happy as I am, we can't have this baby. I mean..." He runs his hand through his hair. He paces the room and I sigh.
"I know, but we have to do something. They're going to find out soon. We have two weeks."
"That's perfect because they're planning on attacking a huge building that the Democratic candidate for president is there."
"Wait, what? What month is it?"
"October, why?" I groan.
"I've been here longer than I thought. Why are you guys attacking the government? I thought you guys protected the government." He shrugs.
"The intentions for this group get lost after decades of people with blood lust. And the president told us to. That and we don't like the Democrat candidate. She's trying to make too many good changes. We think she's going to get rid of the D.E.A.D.
"Well, that would be great! We could leave, have a normal life!" He shakes his head.
"We'd just become a terrorist organization." I groan, "Oh, and both of us are going so practice your magic ice stuff." He says making crazy hand motions in the air. I raise my eyebrows.
"That's not what I look like." He laughs.
"No, that's my magic." I laugh, shaking my head.
"No, your magic is here," I say kissing him. He touches my stomach.
"I'm happy and scared." I nod.
"Yes, me too."
-
"So what are you guys going to do?" I shrug.
"You didn't talk about what to do afterward?" I blush.
"We got distracted, and besides, we need time to brainstorm."
"Ooh, distracted hu?" I blush.
"Yes, but we need to brainstorm what to do." She chuckles.
"Can't you hack into their system? Get a hold of all their plans?" I shrug.
"Yea I guess."
"So use that." I scoff.
"What's that gonna do?"
"Well, you could at least find out what they're planning and maybe release anything on them." I nod.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt to find things out. But I don't think to release anything on them would help. They'd just need more killers."
"But they'd shut them down right?" I shake my head.
"They'd turn into a terrorist group." She sighs.
"Wow, you have studied every way to go on this." I shrug.
"Well, we are talking about the life of my child here." She shakes her head and switches subjects to TV shows, and both of our favorite, Agents of Shield. We both laugh and joke about Hunter and Bobby since those are our favorite couple to ship. My stomach growls.
"Oh my goodness, I'm so hungry I could eat a whole cow." Anne laughs.
"Are you hungry in there?" She says talking to my stomach. I laugh.
"I think he is because I'm getting pains like nothing else."
"Well let's go then?"
"Where?"
"To the kitchen of course." We stand up.
"You know where the kitchen is?" A smile grows on her face.
"Of course I do. I'm the most food-crazed of everyone here." I laugh.
"Yes, you definitely are." She leads me out of the room and we walk down the hall a few doors and walk inside, "This is where it is? And I've been down the hall from it the whole time?" She laughs.
"Well, know you know." She opens the refrigerator and gets out a can of soda and I look through the cupboards until I find a bag of trail mix. We sit at the island counter and talk while eating our food.
"So, what's up with you and...oh, what's his name?" She blushes.
"His name is Jacob and I think you could consider us as good friends." She blushes and giggles.
"Aw, Anne. That's cute, do you think he's going to ask you out?" She shrugs.
"He doesn't seem to want to be anything more than friends."
"Well, how can you know for certain if you don't ask him out?" She looks shocked.
"Me? No, no, I could never. That's so forward."
"Come on Anne, it's the 21st century, girl you can go and get yourself a man. They can't do everything." She shakes her head.
"No, I don't think-"
"Anne...come on, if you want something then you have to get it yourself. And if he says no then move on, find someone else he obviously isn't the right person." She smiles at me and then starts cracking up.
"I think we switched." I laugh with her.
"Yea, I think so." We head back to the room and we come up with a plan for her to ask him out. It gets to be 10 be the time Einar gets back. I and Anne say our goodbyes and Einar flops on the bed, exhausted.
"Hard day?" He groans.
"Worse."
"What happened?"
"Leader is devising a plan that will make it impossible to know that we're coming and since this is the biggest and most dangerous mission we've ever done, he also came up with a plan if the public finds out about us in the mission. I saw it like he can read my mind." I sigh.
"What are we going to do?"
"I don't think we have a choice, we have to just run." Tears burn my eyes.
"We won't make it. They'll catch us." He shakes his head.
"No, we have to. I'll die before letting them touch you."
"It's not me I'm worried about, it's the child," I say crying. He wraps me up in a hug.
"I know, but I need you to be safe." I sob.
"We're never going to have a normal life. All I want is for our family to be safe. That's all I want." He kisses my forehead.
"We will, I promise."
