You entered your apartment, tossed your keys on the coffee table and plopped down on the couch. Unbuttoning a few buttons of your shirt, you laid your head against the back of the couch and closed your eyes, hoping for the awful feeling to pass.

To say that today had been a horrible day would be a ridiculous understatement.

It all started with some false celebrity pregnancy which almost cost you your career. Almost - you tried and succeeded at focusing on the silver lining; that was until you met Roxanne from down the hall on your way up. "(Y/N)", she had called out, " OMG this totally hot bod just moved in the apartment next door to you, totes hook up material! " and then she left but not before giving you a wink.

The apartment next door. Just the thought of it made your heart drop. Mrs. Witherman, whom the apartment belonged to, had passed two weeks ago and the apartment itself had been up for sale since last week. You had been the first one to offer to buy the place and had felt your soul shrivel and die upon being informed of the fact that current tenants could only post bids after the first week. You intended to buy the place and knock down the wall dividing it from yours so you could have bigger space for yourself. And there was no stopping you.

You made extra efforts to get off work early and be the "nice hospitable neighbor" when potential buyers came around to have a look. "This is a beautiful place. Mrs. Witherman used to love it. Sometimes I feel she's still here...." you trailed off, looking at the couple who was eyeing the place with complete admiration. "We'll take good care of it", the woman said, "I'm sure she'd like having us here." A stealthy intricate movement from your fingers caused the vase beside her to explode from the inside out. They were gone within seconds.

A family of four was next. "Sometimes I can still feel her presence..." and with that your eyes glowed gold for a tenth of a second, barely noticeable, as a result of which the lights flickered a couple times before going out completely. Mission accomplished. Last was a single guy - easiest to scare. You just borrowed the little twin girls from down the block, dressed them in matching outfits and instructed them to stare at the guy point blank from a corner of the living room. You? You just pretended you couldn't see them at all. His screams were audible even after he was two floors down.

Just two more days and the apartment would be yours, which was today. Yet again, you cursed the man who had nothing short of robbed you of your dream abode. The only good thing that happened today was a voicemail on your phone letting you know that your hunter best friends would be soon paying a visit. A grin formed on your lips and you let it stay there, burrowing yourself deeper into the blanket and welcoming the alleviating sleep after a particularly tiring day.
