Working day and night in the lab, Tony didn't really pay much attention to what Steve was saying and on the off chance that he did hear your name, he never put much thought in the situation. That was, until he had a face to go with it.
"(Y/N)? (Y/N) (L/N)?" He repeated, now more confident than ever that he wasn't mistaken. "You guys know each other?" Steve was surprised he could form words, given the degree of confusion he was in.
"Unfortunately." Your gaze was still throwing daggers at Tony. "I came here seeking a job, what was it Stark? Four, five years ago?" You hissed, "I couldn't get it though. There was one thing I couldn't quite do. What did you ask of me?" You asked with mock interest.
"(Y/N), come on, can't we put that-"
"Never mind. I remember." You continued, oblivious to the fact that Tony had even opened his mouth to say anything. "And one more thing Miss. (L/N), this position will require you to do everything that catches my whim." You huskily whispered and ran your hand up and down Steve's arm, trying to imitate Tony's demeanor from the foul memory. "If it hadn't been for my boys I'd be living on the streets, Stark!" Your pitch began to take an unnatural high, so Steve immediately pulled you away.
"I'm so sorry (Y/N). Had I known, I would never have brought you here." He whispered, failing at combating full blown panic. "It's okay, Steve. I just need a minute. Meanwhile, why don't you go be with your friends. They look like they need you." You gestured your head towards Clint and Natasha, who were waving frantically at Steve to come over.
Yep, they had definitely seen what went down.
-
You had walked out to the balcony, accompanied only by your drink, letting the calm of the night become one with you.
"I cannot read you." Hearing a very accented voice behind you, you turned around. Judging by what she had just said, you immediately recognized her. Of course she couldn't read you. Your mind was of too complex of a making to be penetrated against your will.
"You must be Wanda Maximoff. (Y/N) (L/N)." You extended your hand for her to shake but she did no such thing.
"Why can't I read you?" She cocked her head further to the side. You didn't necessarily want to publicize your abilities, hence you were very grateful to the voice which interrupted you two. Even though it was Tony's.
"Wanda, could you give us a minute?" He asked, his gaze fixated on you. She nodded and left but you could feel her eyes boring into you even after.
"(Y/N), I'm sorry. I'm not proud of what I did. To be honest, I'm not proud of anything much I did back then." You heard what he said but didn't say a single word in return. "I'm-I'm a changed man." Tony wasn't sure why he wanted to make it up to you so bad. Maybe it was the guilt, "What do I have to do to prove it to you? I'll do anything."
That managed to catch your attention. "Anything, you say?"
-
"Go for Dean Winchester."
"Dean, how quick can you arrange a werewolf hunt for me?"
"WHAT!?"
-
The association between you and Tony had escalated from 0 to 237 text messages a day.
If they bite you, you turn into a werewolf as well?
Like, have you seen it happen?
Can I bring Barton along so we can test it?
So wait, are vampires real too?
Can you hook me up with one?
Initially, he was skeptical about the existence of such abnormal creatures but when you actually sat him down and explained to him what he needed to do in order to not die, your precise knowledge of the tiniest details caused self doubt to set in.
As for you, you just didn't want a dead Iron Man on your hands.
Steve was conveniently kept unaware of any and all information regarding this arrangement because he would never let you go, even though you had been hunting for years like it was your second job. Either that or he would want to come with, which would ultimately make things easier on Stark and you were not about to compromise with that.
It was only a matter of time before Dean found a case.
A/N: All suggestions and constructive criticism is always welcome.
