I contained myself before the phone dropped out of my hand.
"Hello?" came the voice on the phone. I was beginning to wish the bitch would shut up.
I cleared my aching throat and answered, "Sure, I'll tell him," and hung up without waiting for a reply. I leaned against the motorcycle while my legs began to wiggle like Jell-o.
I heard a sound behind me as Mr. Miller stepped out of the Sonic. He had two huge ice cream shakes in his hands and was grinning broadly. Stupid bastard, I thought against my own will.
"I know it's a little early for ice cream, but I thought you'd like some," he said, handing me a drink.
I took and smiled, despite my quaking heart. "Thanks Aden," I murmured.
He looked at me closely as my voice cracked. "Hey," he said softly, gently touching my cheek. "Is there anything wrong?"
I looked into his eyes, his bright, beautiful hazel eyes. They didn't look like the eyes of a lying, cheating, asshole, sonofabi- "Nothing's wrong," I said simply, taking a sip of the drink.
"Ok," he said hesitantly. He walked up to the motorcycle and leaned against it as I did. I walked up to the sidewalk and sat down. He slowly followed and sat next to me. "Did anyone call?" he asked, looking at the cell phone clenched tightly in my hands.
"Melinda did," I replied, taking another sip.
"Oh," he said slowly. He put his arm around me and said, "So do you wanna go home or run away with me?" he asked jokingly.
"Home," I replied, shaking his arm off and standing up. I walked over to the curb and threw the drink into the trashcan.
Aden nodded and tried to help me onto the motorcycle. I just climbed on myself.
He climbed on as I strapped on the helmet.

As we pulled up to my Melinda's driveway, I tried to get off the motorcycle. Aden skidded to a halt. "What's wrong with you?" he shouted. I shrugged and got off. I took off the helmet and threw it at him. He looked up at me. "You could've killed yourself!!...What's wrong babe?" he asked softly, quickly putting in the 'babe' as if it didn't come out of his mouth often.
I looked at him for a while and then leaned in and kissed him. He kissed me back, even though we were directly in front of Melinda's house. I pulled back and looked at him as he stared into my eyes. "Jennifer called," I said simply.
Mr. Miller's mouth opened and closed like fish. "Huh?" he babbled.
I turned and walked up to the house and to the front door. I pressed the doorbell and waited for someone to answer as a tear rolled down my cheek. I immediately was answered by the door opened and Melinda's kind face smiling out at me. "Hey Ame- What's wrong?" she asked.
