I looked at the small black dress on the bed, next to the bright red off the shoulder one, which was next to my makeup bag. I was trying to decide what to wear....... And to where?
I closed my eyes and picked one, not trusting myself. It was the black one, and I knew I had made the right choice. I didn't want to look like a drag queen for my first (or second) date.
I went to the bathroom and took a quick shower, after which I put on the dress and curled my hair. I then applied a light plum eyeshadow to my lids, which I was sure would make my eyes pop. I coated my lashes with mascara and scrubbed on a pink blush to my flushed cheeks. Finally, I coated my lips with a thin shade of peach lipstick, and a light gloss, making sure to line my arched Cupid's Bow.
All in all, I looked great. But who would be the first to complement me? Aden or Fabian?
I picked up the house phone and decided which number to dial. As it rang, I knew that I had made the right choice. Sometimes, I had to look out for myself too.
After five rings, Fabian picked up. "Hello?"
"Hey, Fabian, it's Amethyst," I said shyly.
"Hey, Amy, what's up? You ready for our date?" Fabian asked, all too smoothly.
"Well, actually, I wanted to talk to you about that...I'm going to have to cancel....Something came up and-" I smiled to myself.
"Oh," Fabian replied. He sounded a little disappointed. "That's cool...I mean, we can uh, reschedule."
"Okay, thanks Fabian...And sorry," I said, even though the smile on my face didn't seem too sorry.
"No problem, I know you probably wouldn't do this without a reason," he laughed out. "Talk to you later, Amy."
"Bye Fabian," I said. I hung up the phone.
I quickly dialed Melinda's number and waited for her to pick up. "Hey, Linda, it's me. I was wondering if you could take me to Aden's house."
"Who?" Melinda chirped.
"....You know...Mr...." I paused.
"Ohhhh.....Say no more! I'll be there in a sec with Fabian-" I cut her off.
"NO!...Just you...You know?" I asked, calming down a little.
"Okay, sure.." she said suspiciously.
"Thanks, bye," I breathed out. After she had hung up, I sighed heavily. I knew I had made the correct choice. I mean, I like Fabian and all....But I loved Aden..And that's all that mattered to me right now.

Melinda pulled up a block away from Aden's house and pulled the keys out of the ignition. She had borrowed her mom's Nissan, and Fabian was nowhere in sight. My heart pounded as I turned and looked at her.
