The remembrances of Chase remain in the air of the room. His scent filled the air in the car; the touch of his hands burned the very skin that laid upon his body. The indentation on the bed from where he laid was still warm. Running his hand over the pillow where Chase laid his head, Patch didn’t know what to do. There was something about Chase spoke to him then there was a part of him remained on guarded. He had to keep Chase at a distance in order to figure out what was going on with him.
Closing his eyes, he allowed his body to fall back on the bed. Patch took in three deep breaths as his mind ventured out to the unknown abyss of darkness. Swirls of hideous dark clouds swarmed around him. Bolts of blue lightning stretched out like fingers, tickling the air with tiny dancing electrical shocks.
He looked down at his hand, it glowed a whitish blue. Shadows played with the corner of his mind. In a distance, screams faded through the air. Turning his head, he could see silhouettes burring in and out of time. Scents would reach his nose then disappear.
‘Where am I?’ Patch asked himself as his eyes saw a little girl playing off in a distance.
Trees surrounded her; the sun was shining through as she picked dandelions off the emerald green grass. She would put one up to her lips as if to eat it then throw it down and laugh a cute baby squeak kind of way.
‘Lilly?’ he began to walk towards the baby, ‘Why is Lilly here?’
Taking a few steps, he something jerked back; the clanging of chains sounded. Looking down thick silver chains held him by the wrist. Glancing back up at Lilly, he could see her playing around in the brightened part of the abyss. Her smile spoke of pure innocents.
‘Lilly’s safe,’ Patch thought. ‘Where is her mother?’
Just then, Dawn came in view in a different area of the unknown. She was speaking to a man that had his back turned towards him. She looked a bit frightened but angry at the same time. Her hand came out hard and quick against the man’s check. He snatched her by the arm and jerked her forward next he tossed her against the wall. As the man turned around, Patch locked his jaw. There stood Trent Sheen.
‘What is he doing here?’
A laugh stole his attention Chase was now with Lilly. ‘Chase why are you here?’
Chase picked up little Lilly and playfully tossed her in the air. She screamed a laugh as he caught her and tickled her belly. Chase smiled down at her with the expression that a father would have. Patch had a moment of pride slip through the confusion.
‘Chase would make a good daddy,’ he thought. ‘Lilly would be lucky to have him in her life, so would he.’
A rumble of thunder came from somewhere behind him. Turning around he looked and saw a massive battle going on. There were werewolves, eagle like creatures, snake like creatures, horned men and women, and then there was Chase and his family. Glancing back over Chase was still with Lilly.
‘What the hell is going on?’ Patch left the images of Chase and Lilly to move closer to the battle.
Blood fell from all creatures, some hollered for others to move and get back while some charged ahead. On the sidelines was his mother, father, Trent, Tommy and himself. They stood watching the massive battle take place without helping anyone out.
‘Why is Trent with us?’ Patch noticed how his body language was towards him. Trent stood in defense as if he was guarding him. ‘What was with Dawn?’
There were so many questions through his mind; he wasn’t sure where to start first or what to think. Nothing made sense; he was not for sure where he was to be honest. Only a few lighted areas illuminated the darkness. Almost as if, they were memories. Patch tried the word against his tongue, he seemed correct.
