Before the house woke up for the day, Patch listened to Chase whisper about his day. The young wolf woke up excitedly as he realized his mate crawled into bed with him while he slept. Instinctively, Chase knew Patch was there, he found himself caught in a series of strange dreams. Patch wanted to know of these dreams, yet, he chose not to speak about them.
Chase asked about his evening causing Patch to look curiously at him.
‘He is the only one makes me feel, why?’
                              “Patch?”
“I’m listening and thinking; my night held an interesting twist. Let me ask you something, do you believe in reincarnation?”
Chase bit the inside of his lip as his eyes squinted to a thin line while he thought of the question and played with an answer. He had never thought about reincarnation before. Werewolves live an extremely long time, a werewolf known to live close to a thousand years.
“Well I’m not sure werewolves can return in a reincarnated form.”
“I don’t see why not, you are a being of the earth. You are a creature of natural essence of the world. Your body is that of man and beast. More likely considered a Halfling more than a whole. I do not mean that in a disrespectful way, but you are neither whole man nor whole beast. Making the werewolves of two essence, the man carries more than one light within him while the beast carries the natural earth within him. Therefore one with nature and the natural order of things when the earth regenerates it freshens the old and allow the new to come to order.”
Chase’s jaw dropped open a small amount as he listened to his mate speaks of things as if they are true. Not in a theoretic way, Patch spoke of knowledge and wisdom.
“What is the look on your face?” Patch studied him, “You are confused?”
“No, just–well shocked. You seem like you know the truth instead of speaking hypothetically.”
Patch pulled himself up into a sitting position and gazed down at the man on the bed. Chase’s reaction confused him a bit. There was much he wanted to discuss with the younger man however, he did not know if Chase would understand or hold his tongue when the Alpha ordered him to talk about their relationship.
Rubbing his throat, he thought of the chains holding him back from finding the truth. Purgatory played a deadly game with his mind. He knew nothing of something so unkind and hurtful except he did. Purgatory was your own personal Hell. A Hell designed to taint and twist every thought you ever had or teased the senses with every experienced in your life. Patch just only touched the surface of his thoughts.
“Let me ask you something,” the words fell before he had a chance to realize he had spoken. “If there was a thought a deep memory you were trying to figure out and it involved someone you enjoyed or loved, what would you do to figure out what it meant?”
“Like a lost memory?” Chase sat up on his elbows.
“Yes, like a lost memory,” Patch wiped his face.
“Does this have to deal with you being distant?” Chase whispered yet knew he could hear him very clearly.
                              “Just answer the damn question,”
Chase’s eyes widened at the snap of his mate, clearing his throat, “I like to write my thoughts down and look for key words, like a dream. Mom says I’m good at analyzing dreams so I try to analyze my problems the same way. By breaking the problem down and looking for any clues, people or anything that jumps out at me that could possibly answer my problem.”
“That’s an idea, I could look at it from a different perceive.” Patch nodded his head slowly.
“Okay, look.” Chase shot up in a sitting position, “Obviously your mind is somewhere else. If you are going to ignore me please do it somewhere else. I’m a freaking werewolf, we like attention from our mates. Obviously, you are not in the mood to actually be here or you just don’t want to be here.”
