(Sorry it's late, I've sending Return of the Ancients in once again. Had to make sure I did anything correct. Next I will be updating Return of the Ancients Book Two.)
Warm air danced the way through the swaying trees with the moonlight lacing over the ground. Several paws hit the ground chasing after a young wolf running to get a glimpse of his mate when it was told that he was home from the hospital. Dodging and leaping, driving harder All Tommy would tell him was that Patch was okay. No further explanation just he’s fine. Chase wasn’t for sure what he was going to do when he arrived at Patch’s, all he knew is he had to see him.
‘Chase.’ Lucas leapt into the air, tackling his little brother down to the ground. Chase snapped his jaws and growled at the future Alpha. ‘Knock it off.’ Chase whimpered under the power of the command. Lucas hated that he ordered his little brother, Chase never done anything wrong. He was just a free spirited pup with his eyes set on the world.
‘I know you want to see Patch but have you thought about what you are going to do when you get there?’
Chase looked away from him, ‘I just want to see him.’
‘I know bro, you will. Tommy said that he will call when Patch is allowed to have company.’
‘When will that be?’ A deep whine sounded from his chest.
‘Not sure bro, but I will get you to see him.’ Lucas licked his head between his ears. ‘How about we go see if he’s outside or in a window?’
Chase’s tail started to thump against the ground. Soon as Lucas sat up, Chase jumped up and waited for his brother to nod that it was okay to run. Lucas’s head went up into the air Chase’s paws hit the ground in running towards Patch’s house once again. Deep laughter came out of the wolves as they watched him go. Amy rubbed her head against Lucas’s chest as they began walking again. Lucas leaned his head down nipped her behind the ear and licked. His mate was so precious to him. She understood that Chase was a very important part of his life. Amy put up with him and Chase being brothers and pounding on each other. She put up with Chase’s thunderstorm fears. When the others tease him, she gets just as ticked off as he does, maybe a bit more.
It was not Chase’s fault that he was a submissive wolf. Nature takes place no matter who or what happens during life. Things happen for a reason this included to the all werewolves as well. Chase was chosen to be a submissive wolf due to his strength. He was strong enough to handle the mate he will be getting.
In this case, it was Patch. A shut down human being that knew something about the Earth Clan. A human teamed up with other people in the town to run the Earth Clan out of the territory once before. Lucas had to find out what the humans know about the Earth Clan.
Chase slid to a stop just before reaching the trees, looking back at his brother with wide eyes. Lucas drew in the connection between pack members. Patch was outside with Tommy, Kathy, and Richard as they were eating dinner. Patch’s face and body had taken a beating.
‘He’s alive Chase remember that.’ Lucas thought back to him.
‘Can you not see him?’ Chase began to panic, ‘What they…you know.’
‘Changed him? Would it make a difference? He’s still your mate.’
‘But the Earth Clan isn’t of werewolf. You and dad said that.’ Chase fell to the ground. ‘What if he’s something different?’
‘Then we’ll work on it. First, we need to find out if Patch was injured enough to become something different.’
Amy came up and licked the back of Chase’s head, her voice was silence as her actions were greatly felt. Chase seemed to melt into her tender touch. Right now he didn’t need someone telling him that everything would be fine. He just needed someone to be there for him. It was bad enough he had a human mate that was far from being gay. Chase had his work cut out for him.
