Too old

Clothes scatter the small apartment as Kihyun went around trying to shove them into a tiny laundry bin. It didn't help so much that Hwan was becoming more adventurous and was flinging his underwear out of his draw, resulting in a lot of black and awkwardly patterned boxers and breifs to clutter the bedroom floor. He sighed as he set the bin down besides the door, going to his room and looking down at the child sternly. His arms were crossed infront of his chest, and the child took it as a sign that he wasn't so happy.

"Hwan..." He said slowly "What is this?". His hands motioned the mess on the floor, seeing his underwear draw now empty. Hwan only looked up at him innocently, throwing his hands up and bouncing in his toes. He was begging to be carried at the moment, his lips forming a pout as little whimpers escape his mouth. It was his way of guilt tripping Kihyun and he wasn't falling for it today.

He grabbed the smile child securely under the arm pit, lifting him from the ground and moving him to the cleanest corner of the room. Hwan tried to move, but Kihyun stopped him with a hand and a gentle glare. "Bad babies aren't allowed out of the corner until they realize their mistakes." He said in his best scolding tone. He tapped a finger against Hwan's button nose as he spoke before standing straight and cleaning up the mess in his room.

One thing lead to another and Kihyun ended up doing every single chore in the house aside from laundry (and grocery shopping but that's an adventure for later). He wiped the sweat that trickled down his face, watching Hwan trying to clean a clean wall with a napkin. As endearing and adorable as it was, he didn't have time to awe at his intelligence. He needed to get the laundry done before the hours he couldn't use it.

That time, exactly, was about 2 hours. If he hurried up and had no distractions, he might be able to do laundry. Granted his child decides to be a good boy and sit upon the vibrating laundry machine while attempting to color in a coloring book. Kihyun nodded at the plan and wasted no time to run out of the apartment, grabbing his child and slinging him over his shoulder.

He was only in a tight fitting tank top of fuzzy blue duck pants, but Kihyun didn't give a damn who saw him. He's a father who put college on hold and works 2 part time jobs, what else does he have to loose? His reputation? He never had any to begin with.

His rather short limbs brought him quickly to the laundry room. It wasnt anything impressive, only about 3 washing and 3 drying machines. One for each level of the apartment he assumed. The room itself wasnt large either, so Kihyun was forced to bring his clothes into his apartment and fold them there. A tired job indeed but not as tiring as changing diapers for sure.

Kihyun brought Hwan ontop of the washing machine as he planned, handing him his coloring book and a small pack of crayons to use. His eyes lit up upon seeing them and snatched the items out of Kihyun's hands. He gripped them tightly in his small hands, setting them down against the smooth surface of the washing machine and starting to scribble in the blank beige spaces.

Kihyun smiled softly for a moment before getting to the task at hand, hurrily shoving the clothes into the washer. In the midst of his shoving, trying to fit the clothes in at this point with laundry detergent, he sees a figure rush in with a sizeable bin. The single father looked up after finally pressing the wash button, seeing the clothes begin to spin, and saw who it was.

A soft smile crept onto his face as he reached over to poke the man, making him flinch and look up from his crouching position. Hyunwoo gazed over at the pinkette with large eyes before his expression softened. They both shared warm smiles, being neighbors and of the same age range meant they got along pretty well.

"Laundry day too?" Hyunwoo asked, though the answer was obvious. He saw Hwan perched happily atop the vibrating machine, going over and patting his head. "How's Hwannie doing?"

The little boy glanced up the see the owner of the hand, smiling widely after seeing who it was. "Woo!" He said with a large grin, getting up and jumping into the man's arms. Kihyun chuckled as they hugged eachother, Hyunwoo careful not to squeeze the life out of the smaller.

It's been a couple weeks now that Hyunwoo helps babysit Hwan. He even does it for free and whenever he can. As a result he ends up spending a lot of time with Hwan, and he didn't complain. The baby loved him and learned a few words thanks to Hyunwoo. Most of it being "Hi" "Bye" "Woo" "Ki" and "What's that?". Still, the words were still better than a continuous meds of meaningless syllables.

The two shared a small moment before Hyunwoo goes back to doing his laundry casually. Their was an awkward silence filling the air other than the sound of the obnoxious machine and crayon scribbles. Kihyun found himself staring at Hyunwoos body, feeling his lips dry watching the muscles flex and unflex. It wasnt appropriate to be having these thoughts while children were around and while in the tight space of the laundry room.

"Ki! What's that?" Hwan suddenly asked, pointing to a bright colored clothing in Hyunwoos laundry bin. Kihyun shrugged and went to grab it behind Hyunwoos back, immediately regretting the decision.

"Its his spongebob underwear." Kihyun informed unhappily. He pinched his nose and dropped it back in the bin, Hwan copying his disgusted expression. Hyunwoo turned to glare at Kihyun, trying to look mad but teddy bears with angry expressions only look cuter. Kihyun pinched the older man's cheeks and sighed.

"Aigoo..." He cooed "I didn't know you still watch spongebob. Aren't you a little too old for that?"

"Aren't you a little too old to be wearing fuzzy duck pants?" Hyunwoo countered, pointing out the childish pants. He then tried to hide his large form in a corner when Kihyun nearly lunged at him, a small burst of laughter coming from both of them.

It was the relationship they had, simply teasing and sharing small talk. He wasn't as close to Hyunwoo as Hwan was. It was a bit weird to think his child has a closer connection to his neighbor than he does, but he didnt mind. He found he could trust Hyunwoo, so knowing him well or not, he was still a very caring and sweet guy.

The laundry finally finished washing for Kihyun, so he pulled the wet clothes and threw them into the drying. Hwan went and helped it, pulling out socks and placing them inside the machine. They worked in unison until all the clothes were done. Kihyun then sighed and turned to Hyunwoo.

"Aish, so much hard work..." He huffed, sitting down and having Hwan between his legs.

Hyunwoo paused. Kihyun's words sparked something inside his head, but he couldn't quite start the fire. He thought hard and long, humming as he tried to figure out his thoughts until it finally hit him. He stood up from his spot on the old foldable chair, a large smile on his baby face.

"You should take a break then!" He said with a genuine smile on his face. Kihyun blushed slightly at the sudden statement and the sudden excitement.

"W-What?" He stuttered, looking at Hwan and playing with his little fingers.

Hyunwoo cleared his throat. "Take.A.Break" He said "Do I have to spell it out for you?"

Kihyun shook his head. He didn't need such explanations, but he was wondering why he needed a break. The pinkette was doing just fine working the way he is. Even if he did take a break he would immediately regret it and go back to his cycle of work. In a way he was a workaholic, but only because he wants to spoil Hwan.  "I don't need a break Hyunwoo, but thanks for the suggestion."

"No."

"What do you mean no?"

Hyunwoo crossed his arms, trying to look angry again. he still failed miserably. "You're going to take a break and you're going to break with me. My roommate can watch Hwan, they've hung out before it'll be alright. Just you and me, maybe go to a relaxing spa and then maybe dinner or whatever." Hyunwoo explained, giving a few examples of some ways to unwind.

"Hyunwoo I ca-"

Hyunwoo shut him up. "I'll pick you up tomorrow at 4 pm. A guy named Jooheon will come by to pick up Hwan and don't worry, you both will be in safe hands."

For some reason, as uneasy as Kihyun felt about this situation, Kihyun nodded and smiled. He didn't know how tomorrow will be like, but he hoped it was relaxing.

He hoped.
