The glass of the window was cold against his rosy cheeks, breathe fogging up the view of snowflakes falling. The flakes slowly piled onto each other, creating a blanket and completely covering the once green and grey ground in the fall. Winter was starting and it came at the right time aswell. Though it was only mid-November, Hwan's mind was ready for Christmas. He was ready since December 26th to be exact.
A small smile formed on his cheeks as he felt a pair of large arms wrap around his form slowly, suddenly lifting him up in the air with a low chuckle following. At first, Hwan gasp afraid to be dropped at such heights. His eyes gazed over to see Hyunwoos face, all his little 4 year old worries disappearing soon after.
"What are you doing so early in the morning baby?" He asked in a soft tone, yawning gently as he sat down on the couch with Hwan on his lap against his chest. His small ears could hear the gentle beat of his father's heart, the smile on his face growing wider a bit. "I wanted to see the snow." He said, looking at Hyunwoos big hands and taking a hold of his large thumb, fingers grasping it tightly. Long fingers wrap around his entire hand, leaving his small hand trapped inside.
"Kihyun's still sleeping...Should we make him breakfast as a surprise?" Hyunwoo said, shaking the small hand in his own, making Hwan try to pull away with a soft giggle. He nodded dramatically, gummy smile never leaving his small round face. He wiggled off from Hyunwoos lap, waddling over to the kitchen and rushing back to Hyunwoo with a tiny apron.
"Mommy said to wear this!" Hwan said, handing the yellow apron to Hyunwoo and standing infront of him with arms out. His father only chuckled at him, a hand combing through his fluffy dark locks. "You're too cute Hwan." Hyunwoo smiled, tying the apron onto his son carefully. He didn't want to put it on too tightly, but he didnt want it to fit too loosely either. Once he was dressed up for the kitchen, he rushed into the kitchen as fast as his little legs could take him, his father not to far behind.
"So today," Hyunwoo said, heaving Hwan onto the counter so they could be face to face. "We are going to make mommy some avocado toast and a small fruit bowl. I'll make him some coffee too". Hwan nodded at the idea, his gummy smile returning as he crawled over to small bowl of fruits they had out for decor. There was a fresh avocado, so he figured he'd use it for the toast. He grasped it with two hands, as one hand would be too small for the size of the avocado was rather large.
Hyunwoo went over and took the avocado from his hand, taking out a cutting board from a draw under the countertop. He set Hwan down on the ground, taking out a knife and opening the avocado. He scooped the insides into a small bowl, placing a plastic fork along with it.
Hwan's hands reached out for the bowl, desperately wanting to mash the avocado. Hyunwoo squatted down infront of Hwan, adding a pinch of salt and some spices into the avocado to add more flavor. "Need help?" he asked the child, receiving a shake of the head as response. "I gots this." Hwan said, beginning to mush the green fruit carefully while Hyunwoo made the rest of the breakfast.
Maybe it was because Hwan was so focused on the task at hand he forgot about his play date with the neighbor next door. A little gasp escaped his red lips as he tugged on Hyunwoos fluffy duck pants. Though he didn't notice until now, Hwan realized Hyunwoo was wearing Kihyun's duck pants. He thought it was cute, but was more concerned on how be managed to fit into it. His mom was a small man and Hyunwoo was anything but that.
"Appa. I have to see Eunseo today!" He reminded, pouting a bit at the fact he forgot himself. Hyunwoo nodded, sliding the various fruits and berries into a small bowl. He washed his hands, arranging the tray nicely and taking the rather chunky mushed avocados. He mixed it more smoothly, giving Hwan the plate of toast and letting his son slather the avocado onto the toast.
