Kihyun perked up, tilting his head. "Oh really?" he asked in surprise "Who?"
"Me."
Kihyun choked the moment he heard that syllable. He thought his ears were playing tricks and his eyes were reading the others lips wrong. There was no possible way a guy like Hyunwoo could be practically confessing to a guy like him, Kihyun thought. There was no way he was interested in a 25 year old single father with a 3 year old son who isn't even his. It had to be some sort of joke.
He laughed it off as if it was one, looking into Hyunwoos eyes awkwardly. Hwan was still seated on the others lap, bits of chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker stuck on various places around his lips and cheeks. Kihyun wiped it away, trying to distract himself from the shocked gaze of Hyunwoo.
"Do you t-think I'm l-lying?" Hyunwoo stuttered, gulping a bit as if trying to hide the fact he was dissapointed. Maybe he was, Kihyun couldn't tell but he surely did seem like it. His eyes were trained on the heated coals in the grill, the ashes flying upwards and outwards with the wind. "C-cause I'm not...I really mean it".
Scooting closer, Kihyun pressed their arms together. He rested his head on the sturdy shoulders conveniently lowered to accommodate his height. His eyes were too staring at the coals. The soft red glow calming his nerves and awkwardness. His pink hair fell infront of his eyes, but he didnt mind it for a while, gazing up at Hyunwoo.
"I do believe you. I just don't know how to feel." Kihyun admitted, his heart beat pounding against his chest. The sound was the only thing Kihyun could hear at the moment, and he wondered if Hyunwoo could hear it too. It sounded as though any moment it would leap out of his chest and run off somewhere.
A part of him wanted to live Hyunwoo. He wanted the have him with Hwan for the rest of his life. He wanted a small complete family, even if their kind of relationship doesn't do well in Korea. Location didn't matter though, as Canada is always a second resort. Canada is great, considering America is currently in a state of constant fear of a creamsicle messing up even more.
Another part of him however was scared. He was scared that if they don't last he would lose a good friend. He didn't want to do anything that would harm their otherwise perfect relationship. They've only known each other for a year and a couple months but Kihyun didn't know if that was enough to truly know a person. If he was going to be in a relationship with someone, he didn't want to worry about messing it up.
"I get it." Hyunwoo sighed, shifting a bit in his spot as he moved Hwan onto Kihyun's lap. The child didn't care for the adults conversation and rested his head on Kihyun's thigh, legs sprawled out on Hyunwoos lap. Kihyun chuckled a bit to himself, stroking the others hair while Hyunwoo smiled, looking at both of them. "It wouldve been nice though."
Kihyun perked up a bit. "Nice if what?" he asked
"If this could be our small family. Just you, me and Hwan. I could move into your apartment, work for you so you can stay home and watch Hwan. Make life easy but happy for all three of us you know?" Hyunwoo said with the most pure and delicate smile Kihyun has seen in his life. His cheeks and ears were the same color as his hair, bringing a hand up to cover his face.
"I want that...So badly." Kihyun admitted, hand stroking Hwan's hair as the child napped across both their laps. "I'm just scared you know...What if we don't work out? Not only will I be alone again but you'd probably ignore me for a while...I'm don't want that".
Hyunwoo looked at him from his shoulder, pulling his arm out from between them and wrapped it around Kihyun's shoulder. "But what if we last? What if we decide to stay together forever?" Hyunwoo asked him.
"Then we move to Canada." Kihyun said bluntly, smiling up at Hyunwoo. "We buy a nice small house together and raise Hwan together".
"I guess I'll start looking into Canadian real estate." Hyunwoo joked, causing Kihyun to blush even more and lift his head off the man's broad shoulders.
"God your such a tease." He managed to say without stuttered, making sure not to move much because of the child in his lap. "As if I'd actually make the effort to move across the earth."
"Does that mean you admit we would last?" Hyunwoo said with a raised brow, leaning close to Kihyun's face. The pinkette pushed his face away, rolling his eyes playfully. The coals have cooled due to the wind and the sky was scattered with the light of the stars. They twinkled brightly above the trio, making their scene one almost straight out of a movie.
"Maybe..." Kihyun mumbled, smirking at Hyunwoo, "But I don't know. There's truly only one way to find out."
Hyunwoo looked at Kihyun shocked for a moment, jaw slightly slacked before he shook his head slightly. "S-So are you saying you will go out with me?" he asked, smiling rather widely. There was something about Hyunwoos genuine smile under the night sky that made Kihyun's heart flutter. It was simply two beautiful things Kihyun can't get enough of.
He only nodded at Hyunwoos question, trying not to smile too wide despite his bursting happiness inside. Hyunwoo did his best to try and contain it aswell, chest swelling in both pride and joy as he held Kihyun close to his chest with an arm. His strong arms around his shoulders cause the smaller to become immobile in his arms. He couldn't wiggle out in embaressment and he could even slap Hyunwoos arms to set himself free.
He looked up at Hyunwoo, smiling softly as a blush dusted over his cheeks. Their faces were merely centimeters apart, but there was little to no movement between them. Their eyes shifted with eachother, trying to look away but only having their eyes meet again eventually.
"Is this what they call romantic tension?" Hyunwoo asked.
"I thought this was sexual tension." Kihyun said.
"There's a child literally on our laps."
"Then it's romantic tension."
They shared blank faces for a moment before breaking into a wide smile, the space between their lips eventually closing until they were pressed together.
The sky was beautiful that night, but nothing could compare to the smiles Kihyun and Hyunwoo shared that night, and the confused look Hwan had on his face after.
"Mommy...what happened?" The small child asked.
"Mommy got himself a daddy." Kihyun said in a non dirty tone.
"Woo?"
"Yes. Woo is your daddy." Kihyun said proudly, helping the small child sit up on his lap. They all smiled once again before the child blurted something Hyunwoo and Kihyun didn't really need to hear.
"Joo said he's Kyunnie's daddy."
