"What?" I asked super annoyed. It was Friday night and all I could do was be holed up in Lanie's house. She'd kidnapped me after school and already told my parents a lie, or rather my mom about staying at her house for the weekend to do some stupid project I was just going to blow off anyway.
"Did you forget about our bowling date on Saturday?" Lindon asked. He looked astonished, staring at me like I had gone mental on him or something.
"Bowling date?" When had we ever decided on a date? I can't even stand to be in the same room as him for longer than 10 minutes anymore. He really knew how to annoy someone, always trying to add input into my conversations with my new 'acquaintances', because yes I haven't worked up enough trust yet to call them friends. They're cool and understand what I'm going through better than Lanie ever did though. So that gives them an added bonus more or less. I mean don’t get me wrong I love Lanie to death but sometimes she just doesn’t get me.
"Yes remember Sunday night I called you to tell you we'd go bowling?" He asked incredulously, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Waiiiit I thought Lanie was coming too?" I asked jumping off the couch and running up the stairs of Lanie's mom and stepdad's new house. "Laanniiiieeeeee!!" I started yelling as I ran down the hallway of the second floor. Bran poked his head out of his room giving me a shameful look.
"Shut up Raine. Can't you tell I'm trying to sleep?" He said then slammed his bedroom door again. I rolled my eyes but kept on going, who cared if he wanted to sleep. Not me! That’s for too damn sure.
"Lanie....." I knocked on her door, her showers took too long. "Lanie....." I started pounding on her door. "Lanieeeeeeeeeeee......." I cried out helplessly.
"God forsaken come in Dammit!" She called out sounding annoyed. I walked in with an air of triumph as I sat in her computer chair. I watched her dry her hair with a towel and waited for her to put on her pajamas before getting down to business. By the way, yes I’ve seen her naked I mean come on we had gym class together for goodness sakes and we practically live together every chance we get.
"Aren't you coming with us tomorrow?" I asked her while swiveling around in the chair.
"Nope I got myself a date tomorrow." She smirked mischievously.
"With who?!" I asked her. The only guy she's taken a liking to was Miller, and that's because she's dated practically everyone else. Not that she’s a slut, which I joke about every once in a while. She’d definitely not a slut though, nor will she ever be.
She started to blush as she opened her mouth to speak to me, "With Miller."
"What? You’re crazy." I stated smirking, even though I already knew who she was talking about. She’s had this look on her face every time Miller comes over or his name is even mentioned, oh well.
"You know I'd let you go, but seeing as you have a date tomorrow too...." She trailed off as she brushed through her damp hair. I could see the smirk she was trying to hide though, because she knew how annoying Lindon was to me.
"It's not a date, and I'm not going if you’re not." I crossed my arms childishly. There was no way I would be alone with him, doing something I’ve never done before, and having to let people see me out in public with him. Absolutely not.
