*POV :Joshua *
Since our shift ended at the hospital, Eva had been in 'the mood'.
She was not happy, but she was not sad either.
She was sitting at the edge of her seat , her fore fingernail in her mouth, eyes darting around suspiciously, like a time bomb only seconds away from going off.
She was always like this right before writing one of those Greek poems that only she understood.
But I knew that she wasn't about to write no poem,
there was a plan cooking in that head of hers.I entered hers and Tracie's room.
The room was neat so she was definitely not writing,
(everytime Eva writes their room looks like a whirlwind passed through).
She abruptly slapped the book she was scribbling in shut,
and tried so hard to give me a real smile,
she didn't realize how plastic and toothy it looked.
"What are you up to?" I asked
leaning against the door frame, my hands folded.
"Nothing? "
came the question like answer. If you wanted Eva to tell you anything,
you just had to act uninterested." OK, " and started walking out.
" Wait.... " she called.
That trick had always worked on her, since we were kids.
To say that I was shocked when she said that she was going to ask the pathologist for help,
would be an understatement." Javani? "I asked.
" Yes, "she replied.
" The I-have-a-theory-for-everything-you-do Javani? "
"Yup"
The-pathologist-who-sits-alone-at-lunch Javani? "
" Yes, Joshua, I'm talking about the only Javani you know, "
opening the book she had closed.
" I thought he wierded you out? "Eva and Javani,
were not particularly friends,Eva said that Javani looking at her gave her goosebumps,
and it did not help that the only part of a person he looked at was the eyes,
unblinking,
an icy unblinking stare." First, there is no word like 'wierded out',
"Whatever, smart pants, "I said rolling my eyes.
" and second, people change.
I'm sure I'll learn to be comfortable around Javani, "" What exactly are you up to? "
I asked my sister," Let's just say, I am looking for something only Javani has access to... "
she answered vaguely,
not very comfortable with the topic. So I let her be..
Then mom called, saying dinner was ready.
Eva looked at me,
and a her face suddenly looked tired,
and heartbreakingly sad.
My poor sister...
