Lyra, who hadn't planned on getting up for another hour or two, had been awoken by a startling knock on the door. "Breakfast for our best customer?" A middle aged woman shouted from outside the door. Sitting up, Lyra slipped on her shoes, and trudged sleepily to the door. She unlatched a pretty weak lock, and opened the door.

All of a sudden, around a dozen maids came in baring different food. There was melon, eggs, waffles, pancakes, ham, bacon, sausage, pastries, sweet fruit, coffee, tea, and much much more! After setting everything on a long table, the maids lingered expectantly. Of course. They. Wanted. Tips. And large ones at that.

Lyra sighed, not wanting to waste her money, but also too hungry to refuse. She gave each maid 3 foxgems each. They all filled out hurriedly, not wanting her to take the money back.

Jinx yawned, having been woken up by all of the delicious aromas. Eyeing the table of food, his stomach rumbled. "How much did this cost exactly?" He sighed. Lyra answered sheepishly, "36 gems...." Jinx just stared at her. "Next time, wake me up. You wasted a lot of money in less than an hour." "Alright then..." Lyra's ears drooped, and she felt ashamed of herself.

Rolling his eyes, Jinx got up, and pet Lyra's head gently. "Lets just eat, ok?" Lyra's' stomach rumbled in agreement. The food was deliciously flavorful, and it melted in her mouth like warmed butter. The fruit had obviously been fresh, and the pastries hot from the oven. To top the whole meal off, Lyra had a glass of orange juice while Jinx had a mug of coffee.

After the filling meal, the two travelers headed downstairs, thanked the innkeeper for his hospitality and started on the road towards the academy. "I've been meaning to ask, what skills do you have?" Jinx addressed Lyra casually. Considering this question, Lyra answered him questioningly. "What exactly do you mean by that?" "This isn't a normal academy. It's a magic training and sword fighting. What are you skills in magic or sword fighting?"

"Well, I can use advanced summoning spells, and I'm a beginner with teleportation. My sword fighting skills are improving, but I would prefer a bow and arrow." Lyra replied. Jinx looked impressed, yet amused at the same time.

After that, neither had spoken for a while. It was completely silent, until there was the faint sound of waves crashing onto a shore. A few minutes more of walking, the ocean came into view. Lyra, having never seen the ocean before, was completely mesmerized. Jinx on the other hand, only chuckled, and asked if she wanted to take a detour.

They went down to the beach, and Jinx settled down on the sand in a nice sunny spot. Lyra ran towards the water and waded around in waist deep water. All of a sudden she dove under the water, and came back up with a fish in hand. She trudged to shore soaking wet, and Jinx laughed when he saw the seaweed in her hair. After tossing the fish back into the water, he plucked the kelp out of her hair and offered his jacket. "Come on, we need to get going," he said, gently patting her head.

Getting back to the main road, the two were finally on their way.
