"I'm Jinx. Also, do you mind getting off of me?" He started to look a little embarrassed, but the look of embarrassments dissolved into a blank, emotionless expression. "Yeah, s-sorry about that...."Lyra quickly got off of him. Jinx looked up at the sky. It was taking on a yellowish hue. The sun was beginning to set."Unless you wanna be stuck with me in the woods at night," he started, a flirtatious look in his eyes, "we should start towards a village. There's one about 15 minutes away if we hurry."

Having never known what flirting was, Lyra would have gladly stayed the night in the forest. The only thing that kept her from that, was her fear of the dark. "Sure," she started, "lets go to the village."

After traveling with her new companion, during those 15 minutes, Lyra found out that he was born with silver hair, he was 19, and that he would dodge any question regarding his origins or family. 'Maybe he's orphaned ' she thought. "Hey Jinx, why were you out here in the woods? Aren't you an academy student?"

Jinx looked at her, surprised that it wasn't the first question she asked. "I was on a mission. The academy gives them out as jobs to get either cash, extra credit, or tuition decreases." After learning this, Lyra thought long and hard about what she could do to cover her tuition fees.

A village came into view a few moments after their conversation. Jinx guided the awestruck fox, whom of which has never seen so many humans at once before, towards the local inn. He walked up to the innkeeper, and threw a sack of money on the counter. "Your finest room sir." The innkeeper looked at the money and glared. "We're full." Jinx, knowing this inn hardly ever got customers, gritted his teeth. Lyra, having read in a book that fox gems, a sacred jewel that is common for foxes but rare and extremely valuable to humans, had added three of the precious stones to the payment. Eyes growing wide, the innkeeper gave them a key to a sweet on the third floor.

Jinx opened the door, stepping aside to let Lyra into the room. "Looks like there's only one bed. We're going to have to share cutie. Or I could sleep on the floor. Lyra looked at the splintering wood of the floor boards. "Definitely not. We'll share the bed." She said, having already gotten a splinter. Jinx softly took her hand, and removed the splinter. Laying on one side of the bed, Jinx took an extra pillow and put it between them. "Goodnight princess, sweet dreams." He said sleepily. Lyra replied after lighting a small candle, "Goodnight Jinx." Then the two fell asleep.
