The two travelers still had roughly 13 miles to walk before they would reach the academy. Lyra, having gotten tired, was being carried on Jinx's back. Jinx on the other hand, was wide awake and fairly annoyed that he had to carry her.
"JINX! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!?!?" A feminine voice called out from the trees. 'Well shit....' He cursed silently. Making sure Lyra was on his back securely, Jinx started jogging away from the voice. To his dismay, with every step he took there was the loud crunching of autumn leaves underfoot. A few seconds later the pursuer was sprinting in their direction. All of a sudden a figure lunged for Jinx and tackled him to the ground.
"H-hey.....sweetie.." Jinx stuttered nervously. He glances up at her, a little terrified. Lyra, who had been dropped upon impact, sat up and rubbed her eyes sleepily. "What's the deal Jinx? I thought you were giving me a piggyback ride." The girl who had tackled Jinx looked over at Lyra and glared.
"Who the hell is she? You better not be cheating! I'm your fiancée for crying out loud!!" Jinx rolled his eyes. "Sasha I had no part in this arrangement nor do I want to be a part of it. I'll do as I please. For your information, I was helping Lyra to the academy."
Sasha turned on Lyra almost instantly. Sensing that this crazy chick meant business, Lyra scrambled up and stood her ground. Sasha marched up to the confused fox and studied her. 'She doesn't look like much...a little on the flat side.... She definitely shouldn't be any competition for my fiancé.' Sasha smirks as she thinks this. "Listen up you freak, Jinx is mine and mine only. You should keep your distance if you know what's good for you."
Lyra, having gotten fairly pissed at the threat, growled back threateningly. "Excuse me miss, but Jinx is now my property. Don't you dare threaten me to stay away from something that belongs to me, got it?" Lyra took a intimidating step towards Sasha, the glint of her canines showing.
"Now I would suggest that you take your leave before I decide you aren't worth the flesh and blood you inhabit, 'Sasha'. Sasha glared furiously, and Lyra glared right back. You could practically see the lightning flashing between them. Annoyed, Sasha turned on her heal and left. 'This is the start of a war you can't handle freak....', she thought while stomping away.
