"Yes? What was it that you wanted to ask me Jeremy?" Rose questioned.

"Um, what Sandra said about me liking you . . ."

"You don't like me?" Rose asked, Why do I even care? she thought.

"Hey guys there is something you should know." Catidid interrupted them.

"What!" Rose snaps.

"Jacob ate all of your food." Lizzy-bell explained.

"You wanted us to know this, because . . .?" Rose asked about the stupid remark.

"We thought that you would care because this is going to be our last meal for the week." Catidid said sadly.

"What?!" Jeremy and Rose exclaimed in unison.

"Oh, didn't you hear? Founder Mo wanted us to go and train in the wild under extreme conditions." Lizzy-bell clarified.

"Why would he want to do that?" Jeremy wanted to know.

"We think that he wants us to leave because he doesn't like us." Catidid announced.

"I guess that could be a possibility. But isn't it, you know, low?" Rose said curiously.

"You haven't seen him for a couple of years, so I guess his personality has changed." Lizzy-bell commented quietly.

"I guess I don't really know him as well as I thought." Rose contemplated.

"You guys had better start packing, the flight is going to leave in a half an hour." Kane said as she walked up with a bundle under her arms.

"Wait, you're coming too?" Jeremy interrogated worriedly.

"Founder Mo thought it would be good for me to get out of the laboratory for a while."

"Strange, Kane you have never been on a secret mission in your life, much less in a training room. Founder Mo never let you be that kind of spy because he knew you wouldn't survive well. All of the missions have always been to dangerous for you. How could he just let you go out in the woods without any food or way to survive?"

"Because I have you, Jeremy you will be able to watch me all the time. I don't care if I have to make stupid charts about how good of moves you have, I just want to be with you." Kane's eyes had doubled their size and the effect made her look less like a scientist and more like the pitiful little girl that everyone pitied.

"Oh, fine. Just as long as I can see you at all times."

"Yay, this is going to be like a camping trip!" Kane said as she jumped up and down with great enthusiasm.

After the necessary pieces of clothing were packed into their bags they went to see Agent Clutch, who would be driving them on most of their missions. He was an older fellow with dark blue spiked hair and shades. He didn't seem to have much to say, as all of the experienced spies did. He did show Jacob his guns, which seemed strange since Jacob was a very non intellectual person. Agent Clutch polished his helicopter while Agent Meatball Codeword filled them in on their mini-mission.

"I got this fax from Founder Mo, saying that he expected that all of you test your strength, with the exception of Kane. You will all spend a week in the wild with only a first aid kit. Don't worry we will drop you off on a stranded island, of sorts. There will be food, but you must preserve it and eat only when you need to. Oh, you will also have to keep moving on the island since if it was a real life situation you would have to be on the move so that your enemies won't have a chance in finding you."

"Um, question, are there going to be real 'enemies' that we have to defeat?" Rose used her index finger and middle finger to make hyphens around the word enemies.

"Maybe, maybe not. You will have to find out for yourself." was all Agent Meatball Codeword said before he wished them off.

The helicopter ride didn't seem to take all that long since they were in California. When they arrived at the island all they could see were miles and miles of trees. Clutch let down a rope ladder, and when they were all off, he flew away from sight.

"Well, there's no backing out now." Jeremy said, stating the obvious.

"I'm not going to stay with this herd of animals, so I'll be seeing you later." Sandra stated as she pulled Jacob away with her.

"Wait! Were are you going?" Jeremy said with earnest worry. "Aren't we supposed to stay together?"

"Too-da-loo!" Was the only answer given before they completely disappeared in the undergrowth.

"Um, Jeremy? Do you know where Kane and the twins went?" Rose gestured to the empty spot where their comrades once stood.

Jeremy's eyes got wide with fear for his younger sister. Then he started yelling out her name without a care in the world who heard them. He became frantic and looked in every knot and hole he could find where there might be a slight possibility where a twelve year old could fit. He didn't seem to realize that they were being watched by a pair of eyes that sparkled gold. Before he even had the chance to go any further, Rose suddenly hit the ground hard.

Jeremy, surprised by her sudden hit to the ground, rushed over to her and noticed a small arrow on the side of her neck, no doubt filled with poison. Jeremy took the arrow out and sniffed to see what kind of poison it was, then suddenly began to look about fiercely and tore off a leaf the size of a blanket and squeezed its leftover water on Rose's wound. As he was doing this he began to realize that Kane wouldn't go off by herself, she was most likely to be with the twins. He had put himself and Rose in more danger than anyone on this mini-mission by making the most noise.

When he tore of his shirt to stop the slight bleeding on Rose's neck he heard running water not more than ten feet away. He put on both his and Rose's backpacks before he gathered Rose up in his arms. He was relieved that he could still hear her breath, and that she was only unconscious. Then he mentally kicked himself for not remembering that they were each given their own first aid kit. How could I have been so stupid? he thought. When he reached the water, he set Rose down carefully and started digging furiously through his backpack for the first aid kit. He also pulled out his water purifier.

He used the purified water to clean out the wound and any leftover poison, and wrapped Rose's neck gently in bandages. He pulled out his blanket and situated Rose so that she was in a comfortable position. He gathered old and dry tree branches for a fire. He had also found a banana to eat.

It was well after sunset before Rose regained her conscious. Jeremy had the fire going and looked even hotter in the fire's light. Rose realized that he had been watching her for a while. Then all of it started coming back like wild fire. Sandra and Jacob. Kane and the twins gone missing. The arrow.

"Finally, I thought I was going to have to worry all night about you." Jeremy said as he handed Rose a banana.

"How long was I out?"

"Five or six hours."

"Did you ever see Kane and the twins? Or Sandra and Jacob?"

"No and no."

"Oh."

"Well, now that I know you're okay, I guess we should get a little shuteye."

"Why?"

"Cause I need to sleep before I figure out what has happened here."
