"Hello?"
"Christian? Yeah I'm at the café. Why don't you come here?" Ben asked. I heard a muffled okay before Ben hung up.
"Is Christian coming over then?" I hoped he would say no, but it was not to be. A few minutes later a uniformed Christian strode confidently into the posh café. His tie was loosened and the top button of his shirt was undone. He had pulled his shirt from his pants, which were sitting low on his hips. His black hair was messed up, as though he had just got out of bed and thrown on the uniform. But all that was accompanied by his trademark smirk.
Without acknowledging me he grabbed a chair and straddled the chair so that his head rested on the back. "What have you been up to Ben?" He asked keeping his smirk firmly on his face.
"Rori and I were just discussing the details for our upcoming date." Ben grinned happily. Christian's smirked wavered slightly but he kept his composure.
"Date? I see you've already made moved on my mates. I thought you were different. Guess you're like all the other girls, just want to date the rich, popular kids. I'm disgusted by you." He spat.
"That's not fair!" I cried.
"What's not fair, slut?" he sneered. At that my eyes widened. Without dignifying him with an answer I grabbed my bag and storming out the café. Tears were blurring my vision but I continued to school. I slipped in and strode to the bathrooms before anyone could see the tears in my eyes. Sure I've heard some spiteful things being said about me, but none has made me tear up. I furiously wiped the traitorous tears away before scurrying off to my haven, the library. Here no one, except Ben, dared to come here and I knew I could be left alone.
I hated to be judged. Christian was wrong to judge me so quickly, and it was wrong to lash out at me. My second day, and I was already hated by one particular guy. Instead of worrying about him, I pulled out a new book and started reading. Soon the end of my free period was over and I had to make my way to chemistry. Enriched Chemistry was one of the few lessons that I had without any of my friends and today I was glad. I slid into the stool and took out my books in anticipation for the lesson.
The chemistry lesson provided a much needed distraction and then I was hurrying along to find my next class, Spanish. Using the few vague directions from a couple of underclassmen, I found myself seated in a small class of advance placement Spanish students. Most of them seemed as though they were from Mexican descent, but I couldn't be too sure.
"Hola. Mi nombre es Señorita Sofía. Buenos días. Cómo están todos?" She asked. We all muttered variations of fine or good.
"Qué hacer durante las vacaciones de verano. Vamos a empezar en la parte posterior." She pointed to me. "Dice su nombre, entonces nos dicen acerca de sus vacaciones." What did you do during the summer vacations. We'll start at the back. Say your name and then what you did for your vacations.
"Mi nombre es Rori. Me mudé a Nueva York durante mis vacaciones." I said without delving into details I answered her question. My name is Rori. I moved to New York during my vacations. In turn the rest of my classmates answered her in just less than perfect Spanish.
Our teacher paired us up and gave us a few tasks to do between us. It was a fairly relaxed environment so I felt myself loosen up in the presence of my peers. By the end of the lesson I was thinking like a Latin American and my stomach was growling like a little tiger. As soon as the bell rang I scrambled out of the classroom and hurried to my locker. I picked out my apple and a few loose coins before heading to the canteen.
The cheapest item on the menu was the same disgusting macaroni cheese, so I decided on feasting on my apple instead. Jess was sitting with Felicity and all her friends. I was about to turn around and go to the library when she called out to me. Blushing I walked over to the central table where the popular kids were sitting. She slid across and I sat down beside her.
