The holidays were soon over and I was getting into the swing of school and work again. My work load increased two fold, with me working two jobs at the same time and school assignments. My weight was dropping considerably and my energy was depleting. It wasn't healthy, I knew that, but it was all I knew how to survive.
Every lunch time and break time I hung out with Felicity, Jess and the rest of the group, but the tension between Christian and I was palpable. But for some reason no one else could see it. To them we just looked jsut as happy as we did on Thanksgiving. A few weeks passed and nothing had changed between us.
But something did change on the last day of the first semester. I walked out of the girls bathroom when I was greeted by June and Abby. They had evil smirks on their faces as they looked down their noses at me. With both hands they pushed me back through the door, locking it behind them. Surprsingly the bathroom was empty, perhaps it was just my bad luck.
"We know your secret." June smirked, as she stood arms crossed.
"I don't have any secrets." I scoffed, rolling my eyes. They had been threatening to reveal me 'secret' for weeks, but so far they hadn't done anything.
"Sure you do, scholarship." Abby sneered.
"My friends already know that," I smirked.
"Do they also know what you did to your parents?" June said, raising a challenging eyebrow. I froze.
"You know nothing." I said.
"Do they know where your parents are?" They smirked.
"What do you want from me?" I whispered, my mouth going dry as my hand became sweaty.
"I want you to stop hanging out with Christian." June said.
"Or what?" I challenged. Her smirk dropped and she stepped forward. I didn't have time to react before she grabbed my hair and pulled me towards her.
"Or I'll reveal your secret." As she said that she came closer to my face.
"No you won't." I whispered, smirking. I didn't anticipate her next actions, taking me by surprise. She threw me against the basin, my head hitting the metal before thudding to the ground.
"Consider that a warning." Was the last thing I heard. When I hit the floor I was out. Groaning, I got up. My head was throbbing and my vision was blurry. I staggered through the bathroom, before I managed to catch my fall. I held on to the edge of the basin, closing my eyes.
My forehead was bleeding and my eye was beginning to swell. The side of my face was red from where I had hit the side of the sink. I sighed tiredly. No amount of makeup was going to cover that. I wiped of the blood before holding a tissue to my head. Picking up my bag I walked out the bathroom...
Before bumping into someone. "Sorr..."
"Rori?"
"Christian." I smiled weakly.
"Hey I was looking for you, history is almost over. Shit! What happened?" he grabbed my shoulders.
"Oh nothing. Just have a headache."
"A headache?" he cupped my face and lifted it towards him. He removed my hand and tissue from my face. "Holy crap. What happened?"
"I... I fell." I stuttered, my lie obvious in my speech.
"Bullshit. You better tell me the truth or I will find out myself in other ways."
"Just leave it. I'm fine." I rolled my eyes, wincing when head throbbed harder.
