"I, uh... don't think I could do this, Knox." Jughead said, looking down at the black and white puppy in front of him.
"C'mon, Jug! The 'lil guy has no where to stay, nobody back home can take care of him. Besides, maybe if you try riding Candy's leg, she might give you something back in return." The serpent replied, pleading desperately to him.
Candy was the new leader of the South Side Serpents. After FP got incarcerated, and Mustang had 'killed' himself, the serpents had decided that Candy was a reliable and responsible replacement. She knew the ins and outs of the town by heart, and was beautiful enough to cast her own siren's spell. Of course, Jughead was a bit mad they replaced his father, but he understood why. FP wouldn't get out for years, that's for sure.
"I'm beggin you, Jughead. Poor Hotdog won't have anywhere else to live! He'll be a street rat, searching for any shelter he can get! You out of all people should know how that feels." Knox blurted.
He really wanted him to have that dog.
"Of course, I know how that horrible experience felt like, Knox. I lived through it for months. But, I live with Betty at the moment, and after that, I'm moving in with some fosters. I can't keep this dog forever!" He replied.
"I promise you, it'll only be for a few months. Once someone's able to take him, we'll snatch him outta yer hands! PLEAAASE JUG!"
Jughead took one final glance at the pup. He had two different colored eyes: One black, one blue. His fur were two different shades too, black and white. The dog looked up at him, his unfortunately adorable eyes meeting his. Jug sighed, holding the bridge of his nose in exasperation.
"Okay."
"THANK YOU SO MUCH JUGHEAD! OH THANK YOU!" Knox replied, attacking him violently in a hug.
Jughead chuckled nervously, Betty will not approve of this at all.
"Ok, you should probably go now, I gotta go buy some kibble or whatever for my new companion." He said, prying off Knox's fingers like unwanted hairs in food.
"Yer right, heh. I'll leave you with him. Oh! Before I go, I wanted to tell you who'll be fostering you."
"You know them?" He asked, surprised.
"They're from the south, of course I'd know! And you'd be even more shocked who it'll be."
...
Josie McCoy and Cherryl Blossom burst into the diner arm in arm, laughing loudly. Veronica and Betty turned around immediately.
"What the hell are they doing here?" Veronica whispered, Betty shrugged, her mouth hung open, still stunned by the view.
They sat in a few booths away from Ronnie and Betty, holding hands. Cherryl played with one of Josie's curls jokingly, giggling at the slight bounce it would have when she dropped it. Kevin came back from the bathroom, and noticed the two instantly. He looked back at Veronica and Betty, who just shook their heads, stating they were just as dumbfounded as him. He sat back in their booth slowly, trying to recollect his thoughts.
"I knew they were close, but I didn't think they were THAT close." He chuckled awkwardly.
They all sat in the same seat so they could snoop in and watch them. Josie ordered something for both of them, and moved into Cherryl's seat, leaning onto her shoulder. Cherryl smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Guys, am I dreaming?" Veronica said.
Betty pinched her arm in response.
"Ow! Okay, not dreaming. Thanks for the reassurance, Betty." She replied, rubbing the area vigorously.
