[ Flashback s t a r t]

Jughead layed on the bed, eating a bag of chips, watching Betty get ready for the party.

"I don't understand why you girls go through pounds of makeup. You guys look great nevertheless. " He said as he passed Hotdog a few chips.

" We do it for ourselves, Jug. Some of us find it fun to do it, for your information." Betty responding, grinning as she looked at him through her mirror.

"Oh well. Whatever makes you happy."

Betty paused, looking up at Jughead.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? Me being alone with Archie, I just- I don't know..." Betty said, rubbing her arms.

Jug sighed.

"Betts, you'll be fine. Trust me. Archie isn't daft enough to try and use you." He said

"You really think so?"

He walked up to her, resting his head on her shoulder.

"I'm absolutely certain, Ms. Cooper."

She giggled.

He walked back to the bed, watching her grab her purse.

Hot dog nuzzled into his hold, sleeping.

She went up to him, and kissed his forehead.

"Love you, Jug."

Before she left, he remembered something he wanted to tell her.

"Even though I'm unconcerned about Archie, please, just be careful around him. Ok?"

"I'll be sure of it, Jug. Don't worry."

She closed the door, and he heard her telling her parents she was going to Veronica to work on a school project. A lie, of course.

He went up to the window, smiling ear to ear as he saw her car roll out of the driveway.

He would come with her to the party, but he doesn't really do well with crowds.

Hotdog walked up to him.

"You sleepy?"

He responded by simply falling onto the floor, snoring.

Jug chuckled.

He went back onto the bed, bringing up the blanket, and reaching up for the light. But, before doing so, he smiled.

He turned off the lamp, and went to sleep

[ Flashback e n d]

It was 2:00 or 3:00AM. Jughead couldn't read the pixels on his phone. He rubbed his eyes, looking to his side, only to see that Betty wasn't there.
