I snorted looking at my hair reflected in the mirror, they fell with soft waves on my shoulders and on my back and weren't put up in a bun. I was also forced to put one of those long dresses that make you feel like a princess and heels, the only kind of shoes that I could match to the dress. And what then? To be watched as if I were a piece of meat from a herd of vampires, all secretly ready to sink their fangs in my neck. I took a deep breath. I would have preferred to stay at home reading rather than go to a stupid dance, but being the first dancer I could not miss these occasions and even I could introduce myself with the first clothes I found. At least that was what they always taught me. I had the most prestigious role and I could hardly disfigure it. Of course, even during the ballets I often wore fancy clothes and I wore make up, but it was a completely different situation. Dancing on the spikes was one thing, but a dance like the one I was going to take part in wasn't for me. I felt just embarrassed and I hated having to smile at all those who would like a dance with me. I was not the only one to attend the event, all the dancers who had a part in the ballet had been invited, only that they seemed much happier. I was obviously the only one who hated these things. I sighed, ready to uncover a false smile. My only hope was that this thing ended as soon as possible.

The dance was held at the palace where the progenitor that governed us lived. It had happened to me to see him very often at the theatre and at times he also witnessed the rehearsals. Of course, everything was allowed to him and, for that little that I could observe him, I had noticed how serious and taciturn he seemed, but he also gave security in a certain way. As much as you could feel safe next to a vampire.

The first known face that I recognized was that of the conductor, who did not hesitate to approach me. "Can I invite you to dance?" I smiled to the man, lately the first lap of dance was always his, but I thought it was something absolutely normal, in the end it was a dance between the first dancer and the conductor. A dance of convenience. "Why not?" In the... " "Sorry if I interrupt you." I shivered hearing that voice, I didn't know who it belonged to. I saw the man withdraw the hand he had stretched towards me. How strange. He never gave up on the first dance with me. Who was the man behind me? So, taken by curiosity, I turned. And I found myself amazed to look at the man, or rather say the vampire, who stood in front of me. Urd Geales. The second progenitor. "Would you grant me the honor of a dance, Miss?" I fixed for a long instant his red eyes. "S-sure." God. I had just been invited to dance from one of the strongest vampires in the world. It was normal for me to ne nervous, right?

Urd lengthened his arm and I, hesitant, laid my hand in his. A cold shiver crossed my back. He accompanied me in the middle of the hall. Great. In the midst of all. I put my hand on his shoulder and he on my waist, the other hand still in his. "It is an honor to be able to dance with you, miss (Y/n)." "I should be the one saying it." I whispered. A slight smile formed on his lips. "You says this only because of the position I occupy. Maybe even because of my nature. But I can hardly blame you, miss, everyone do that. " And why was he saying these things to me? "And you just invited me because I'm the first dancer, right, mr Geales? You would have no other reason to approach me." "Do you believe so, miss (Y/s)?" I watched him confused. "Yes." Urd smiled. "And if I didn't know that you were the first dancer?" This time it was my face to be crossed by a half smile. "You never lost a ballet and very often follows rehearsals. You knew exactly who I was, mr Geales." I answered provocative. The vampire's magnetic eyes were fixed again in mine. "I can't blame you, but do you really believe that I only noticed you when you first played Odette in the Swan Lake?" My eyes went wide. How did he remember the first role I had played as first dancer? It had been almost a year ago. I didn't know if I was flattered or worried. "I've surprised you, miss, right?" Evidently my face said a lot more than it should have. "However I can guarantee you that tonight anyone would dance with you, miss (Y/s). Even if it was the first time they saw you. Believe me. " I blushes. "Do I have to take it as a compliment, mr Geales?" "You are beautiful, (Y/n)." For a moment the vampire braided our fingers, then, as soon as the music ended by marking the end of the first dance, Urd left me and went away. I watched him disappear in the crowd, I wanted to follow him, but a new pretender approached me and I lost sight of the vampire. Why was he gone?

When the evening ended I tried desperately to see him again, but I couldn't find him. I went out and I walked home. "Were you looking for someone before?" The same voice that a few hours before had asked me for a dance. "Urd..." "I'm sorry if I disappeared, but if I had danced a second time with you someone would surely have thought something strange. And then we were among all that people and I would have preferred a more intimate conversation, something you can't do under everyone's eyes. Don't you think?" "What you told me before... Do you really think so?" "From the first day I saw you, (Y/n)." "And you waited just now to tell me?" I was a little suspicious. He sighed. "You are right. I should have thought about it before, but I was always unsure. In the end, I'm still a vampire. Mine could be a mere infatuation, while you could have seen me as a monster, but as months passed my interest in you did not diminish, indeed, it increased. So I decided I had to act, do something. At least try it." He lifted a hand and stroked my cheek. I would have tried not to waste a similar opportunity. "Would you take me home?" Urd's gaze brightened. "Sure." Then I smiled and wrapped my arm around his. Urd smiled at me. It warmed my heart. "We could try to get to know each other better." I whispered. "Yes, it seems a great idea, (Y/n)." But I knew I wouldn't need time. My heart had already fallen for him.
