Adrien's P.O.V.
My face stilled burned a bit red, I could feel the tips of my ears radiate with warmth. I had expected him to talk to Alya about it later, but I couldn't say I didn't became a tad embarrassed when Marinette and I made eye contact. I knew she was thinking about the small sound that had escaped my mouth last night. We had laughed about it then in the safeness of her homey bakery, but I might just die if she were to tell Alya of the mo-
Of how much I enjoyed the bakeries food.
My cheeks glowed red at the thought, I'd never hear the end of it if Nino and Alya discovered the root of our 'inside joke' we apparently had.
I had told myself I would keep a bit of distance from Marinette. I didn't want to give her the wrong impression.
Yes, I had discovered that maybe her crush wasn't so one sided. Yes, she made me a tad nervous.
And she certainly looked beautiful.
Did that mean I completely returned her feelings?
I didn't know that.
If I didn't like her, even just a little, the why did I tell Nino of the kiss? On the forehead, but still.
Still a kiss.
I insisted that he shouldn't tell Alya, but I knew he would. I could only pray she wouldn't tell Marinette- at least until I was sure of my feelings.
I sure am smooth, aren't I? My mother had always said that. She used to call me Mister Smooth, and we'd both laugh until we were gasping for air. It had been our inside joke.
I sighed at the memory. I miss her.
I had grown accustomed to accepting compliments from others, it came with being a model. But giving them? I was never around people other than my father's staff and himself. A lack of social interaction after my mother's passing hindered my ability to provide a proper compliment to a girl. A pretty girl.
I had done this quite a bit as Chat, but something about the suit made me feel so different that it was utterly easy.
I had called Marinette beautiful. That had been a little much, but after what Chloe had been saying it needed to be said. I'll never sit back or wave off Chloe again when she acts like this, I'll stand up and tell her what she's doing it wrong.
I'll stand up for my friends, because that's what they were. Especially Marinette. Even if I may have some sort of feelings for her.
But I still love Ladybug.
Ladybug.
I might love Ladybug, but I can still like Marinette.
I just have to figure things out.
"Ok, class. Today you'll be continuing on your project. Just in case you failed to work on it or read the rubric last night, I'll explain it." Mrs. Bustier smiles and I look down at my desk.
We hadn't exactly started or even looked at it, but we have plenty of time.
"You are required to choose a misunderstood character from a book or series and explain why they are misunderstood in their story. You are required to hand in a handmade poster and two page essay explaining why and you'll present your poster in 2 weeks time."
It would definitely be easier if I were next to Marinette.
"Alya, switch me seats so Marinette and I can work." She nods her head, and gathers her items. Taking her seat beside Nino, I settle next to Marinette and grab a blank sheet of paper for our notes.
"I was thinking Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter series." She says out of the blue, and turns the face me.
Had her eyelashes always been this long?
Hem hem, focus Adrien.
"Isn't he like, evil?"
Her eyes squint and she takes a deep breath.
"He is misunderstood. He had no choice, let me explain."
A small grin pulled at my lips as she said this. She's passionate about this. I'd never seen Marinette love something, but I had heard of her passion for fashion from Nino.
She starts explaining why Draco Malfoy is misunderstood, saying I wouldn't fully understand until I read the books and watched the movies.
Just as she had finished, a crash sounded outside the classroom. I felt Plagg squirm inside my shirt pocket which confirmed it was an akuma. Half the class looks to Mrs. Bustier and she quickly motions to climb under our desks. I raise my hand and point out the door.
She gives me a cold look and jabs her finger at my desk. I furrow my eye brows and the door bursts open and a girl in black and pink spandex walks in with dark brown hair tied in a French braid down her shoulder. She had a golden heart locket that hung from her neck, probably the akuma. I jump up and run out the door as the class starts to panic.
Making sure Marinette is tucked under her desk, I make small eye contact with her and she gives me a worried glare.
She must be afraid.
Marinette's P.O.V.
Poor Adrien, he must be scared. I could tell by the way he looked when I caught his eye.
I must transform, and soon. The victim, who's named herself 'Soul Breaker', is reaching her hand into people and ripping out their soul.
Something about her boyfriend, she said?
Maybe it is a good thing my feelings are not returned.
I peek around from under the desk and fail to spot the alums. I fling myself from my shelter and race for the door.
I had been so close.
Only a mere three feet from the door, a force sucked me from the frame and slammed me to the ground. My head smacks the hardwood and I groan in pain. When I finally open my eyes, I'm nose to nose with Soul Breaker wearing a deadly smirk. She cackles and presses her nose to mine. Holding me with one hand, the other plunges into my chest cavity and I feel her grip something inside. Like a snake, she constricts my chest and her eyes stare into mine. They're a bright monochromatic blue, and I want to look away but I cannot find the will.
I feel my heart slow down and I become sluggish. My feelings grow sad and dark, like she was draining the happiness and joy out of my body. She releases a cackling laugh and her grip tightens again and my eyes begin to close.
The next moment, her hand is gone and I feel the sun on my skin. Like a piece of metal, I begin to radiate with warmth. My eyes flutter open and all I can see is a black spandex covered shoulder and a tanned neck. Golden hair whipped around as I realized we were on the move. My eyes drift close again and I relax my muscles.
I need a bit longer.
Just a bit longer.....
