Adrien's P.O.V.
I switch from confusion to fear as Alya throws down her bag where she was standing and starts to charge at me with an extremely angry face.
I expertly dodge her attack with cat-like reflexes which sends her stumbling behind me. She flips around and starts to charge again, but Nino grabs her by the waist and stops her in her tracks. I see a small blush bloom over her cheeks, then disappear as quickly as it appeared as her sights focus on me once again.
"Agreste!" She rips herself from Nino's grasp and grabs the scruff of my shirt. She brings her face up to mine and glares at me. "Explain yourself." she angrily whispers.
"I- what?"
"Like you don't know." She spits out at me.
"Chill Alya, I don't he knows what you're talking about." Nino says soothingly as he places a comforting hand on Alya's shoulder. She remains in the same place for a bit longer before slowly backing up and away from me.
"What did I do?" I ask again.
"Go ask Marinette." she says with dwindling restraint. I gulp and nod my head before turning to the school and walking in, quite afraid of what I would find.
I find myself standing outside the classroom. I'm pretty early today, it only being 7:55 when class starts at 8:15. Usually the students file in at about 8:05. I silently poke my head through the doorway to find a girl with raven hair sitting in the second row on the left side with her head in her hands, not paying any attention to the world around her.
"Marinette?" I whisper just loud enough for her to hear me. I hear a long sigh and she raises her head.
She stands up and walks over to me. I gulp again, that is at least the fourth time I've gulped today. My heart beat speeds up as she stares at me, as if she's trying to uncover all of my secrets and past. I'm so nervous I feel beads of sweat on the back of my neck, the suspense is killing me. It feels like she's been staring at me for hours, while in reality it's only been a few seconds.
Then she utters those two painful words. Those torturous words Plagg's been warning me about since it happened and I've been more than friends with Marinette. That even when I didn't know I'd feared them, I did.
"You lied."
With those two words almost all of the hope I had inside me was sucked out of my heart and body. It's like having the wind knocked out of you, except it wasn't the wind. It was happiness. After a few moments of staring back at her with a hurt expression, I see a single tears slide halfway down her right cheek before she swipes it away and takes a painful step away from me.
"You read my diary- how could you!" She says a bit louder. "How could you invade my privacy like that!" She lets out a dry laugh before continuing. "No. The fact that you read my diary isn't even half of it. It's how you lied about it. And continued to live in that lie! Do you even like me?" By this point she's near yelling and I feel like a fish out of water.
"Or do you just pity me?!? Oh! Poor Marinette! She has a crush on me and I'm too dense to see it! I think I'll just act like I like her just to get some entertainment! Oh! And maybe I'll fake a whole photoshoot and act like my father forgot about me just so I can kiss Marinette and make her think she's someone special!"
I feel tears welling up. Why am I about to cry? I deserved all of that. Even though some parts weren't true.
"Nothing to say?" She scoffs. "Figures." Her hand reaches out and grabs her bag from beside her desk and she grasps something from inside. She slings the bag over her shoulder and shoves something in my hand- my white shirt. "Don't bother talking to me. I am a very forgiving person but I don't tolerate lies, Adrien Agreste." And with that, she walks to the door.
"Adrien."
I turn around, hoping for the best but she just looks at me.
"You only read about my crush... right?" She whispers. It appears as if she is almost... scared?
Why would she be nervous or scared? Was there something else important within those pages?
I shake my head slowly. Her shoulders relax and she appears angry once again.
"Goodbye." She says, then walks briskly out the door.
I'm left broken. Literally broken.
______________
What a rollercoaster.
Note from old Lou :
This is a short chapter. But it's AN UPDATE! Chapter 12 will probably be up in a few days or so. Here's a fun fact because I'm weird.
FF : The first Miraculous fanfiction I published only got 7 reads.
Q : What are your expectations for Season Two of Miraculous Ladybug?
A : Welp, I've been waiting for over a year and I personally think it better be freaking amazing and practically blow my pants off. There has been tweets saying stuff about the Season 3 finally and all that and I'm just over here like "I'D LIKE SEASON 2 IF THAT'S OKAY" TBH the longer the wait, the better I expect it to turn out.
