I'm so glad your here reading my FanFic! I've always thought the first chapter is the worst in any FanFic and I definitely think that's true in a lot of Draco Malfoy's sister Fics because it is hard to capture the relationship between Lucius and Narcissa and their children. Just hang in there because the next chapter gets so much better! (But don't skip this chapter entirely because it is a relevant opening for the rest of the story)
Carina's P.O.V
I looked at my reflection in the ornate mirror and gave a satisfied smile . Part of my long platinum blonde hair was pulled back to crown the back of my head. The new Hogwarts uniform was crisp and gave me a preppy look."Carina you need to hurry, you're going to make us late," called my mother from downstairs. Her soft voice lifting our of the parlor, through the vast halls, and into my cavernous bedroom. I gave myself one final look before descending the staircase and into the parlor.
My brother was already waiting and was lounged on an emerald colored couch with his nose in a book. He looked up at me casually before returning to his book.
"You look very nice Carina," complimented my mother as she straightened my tie.
"Thank you mother," I responded politely as I had been taught to do when complimented.
"Shall we go then?" Asked my father as he walked into the large fireplace. I joined hands with Draco and my mother who grabbed onto my fathers hand. Father grabbed a handful of floo powder before saying "kings cross station," and we disappeared in a puff of green fire.
When the smoke disappeared we were standing in kings cross station. I gracefully stepped out of the fireplace and planted my slightly heeled shoes on the marble floor."Just go straight through that wall," said my mother while pointing at a wall between platforms 9 and 10.
"You must be joking," said Draco who looked very skeptical.
"Listen to your mother Draco," said father sternly. Draco rolled his eyes and remained planted where he stood. I ignored the skeptical voice in my head and pushed my trolley toward the wall. I closed my eyes just before I hit the wall, ready to fall and make a fool of myself, but I didn't. When I didn't feel the crash I peeked my eyes open and gasped at what I saw. There was a large platform bustling with people, on the tracks was a large train which was already starting to board.
I looked back behind me and saw my brother emerging from thin air. He had a look of awe on his face which I'm sure mimicked my own. My mother and father soon appeared behind him with proud looks on their faces.
"Your father and I will miss you while you're gone," She said however her voice was devoid of any emotion that might indicate that she would not miss us too terribly and she did not pull us into the hug that most parents were giving their children. My father also did not hug us but rather gave a tight lipped smile.
"I know you both will make your mother and I very proud," he said with moderate fondness.
"Good bye mother, father," I said before boarding the train with Draco shortly behind me.
It didn't take long for us to find our friends. The Parkinson's and the Zabini's were close family friends and we had grown up with Pansy and Blaise so we all shuffled into the same compartment. Draco's 'minions' Crabbe and Goyle also sat across from us.
I found myself dozing off for a minute. They were talking about terribly boring things, just saying over and over how incredible being a Slytherin was going to be. We all knew that we would be Slytherins. If we weren't we would be a disgrace to our families, we had to be Slytherins. I wasn't worried though, maybe for Crabbe and Goyle, but I was certain the rest of us would be Slytherins.
