I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. My normally pin straight hair was curled so that it fell around my face in delicate ringlets. The top of my dress was embedded in diamonds and the silver colored skirt flared out at my waist to accentuate my figure nicely. I stood much taller than I truly was in the heels I was wearing. The lipstick I was wearing stood out in a nice contrast to my pale skin.

I turned to see Pansy and Daphne putting the finishing touches on their ensembles. Daphne was wearing a flowy, off the shoulder, emerald dress that she had paired with a deep red lipstick that contrasted her dress but was very complimentary to her skin. Pansy was wearing a deep purple mermaid style dress that surprisingly looked very nice on her despite the odd cut that made her look like she was about to trip.

We all looked very nice and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of happiness despite my dread for the evening.

"Are you ready to go?" I asked as Daphne dusted a coat of blush on her cheeks and Pansy clipped a necklace around her neck.

They nodded and we descended down the staircase together. Draco, Blaise, and Warrinton waited at the bottom for us in their dress robes.

"I still can't believe how many sixth years asked you," whispered Daphne. I fought a grin, if only she knew about the other sixth year whom I had chemistry with.

We reached the bottom and linked arms with our chosen dates.

"You look beautiful," complimented Warrington.

"And you look very handsome," I wasn't lying either. Warrington was extremely attractive, but I would still take my George over him any day.

We walked to the great hall together as a group, chatting about what the night would entail and the latest going ons of Hogwarts. When we entered the great hall turned ball room I was utterly stunned. I had spent my entire life around the most expensive of luxuries but I was still impressed at how the drab dining hall had turned into this winter wonderland.

We were-fashionably-late so by the time we got there everyone else had already arrived. We had only been there for ten minutes when the champions filed through with their chosen dates to lead the first dance. The pretty French girl had chosen a boy from Ravenclaw, Diggory had gone with his girlfriend Cho, and Potter had picked Parvarti Patil who couldn't have looked more miserable. Everyone though was shocked to see that Viktor Krum had chosen Hermione Granger as his date. Her normally frizzy hair was pulled up elegantly and she looked very nice in a pink layered dress. Even I had to admit she looked pretty.

The music began to play and the champions danced for just a minute before other couples began to flood onto the dance floor.

I felt someone grab my hand and I looked up to see Warrrington grinning down at me.

"Shall we?" He suggested.

I gave a curt nod and let him lead me onto the dance floor where we gracefully executed the complicated dance we had been taught for tonight.

A new song began and we swayed in time to the melody. I was actually beginning to enjoy myself, if I closed my eyes I could pretend it was George I was dancing with.

As I thought about George I looked behind Warrinton's shoulder to see if I could find him. I scanned over the crowd and stopped when my eyes found George and Katie Bell dancing together. I let my eyes linger on him and a moment later he looked up and our eyes locked across the dance floor. I kept his gaze as we both danced with our different dates. All I wanted was to be pressed up against him and swaying to the music with him. But there were a lot of things I wanted that I couldn't have, him being at the top of the list.
