"What's up, buttercup?" I asked, with the biggest and most innocent smile on my face while I leaned on the locker beside Jack's. It's ironic how our roles had been reversed ever since the party. In all honesty, I wouldn't have bothered patching things up with Jack under normal circumstances but because of the big possibility that he's friends with Sol, this girl is just about ready to do anything. And something about Jack just screams to me like the go-to guy for all the heartthrobs on campus.

"What do you want?" He grumbled bitterly as he slammed his locker, his full attention on me for the first time in a week. The nut finally cracked. Huzzah!

"Nothing, really. I just wanted to know how's your life thing holding up. Y'know like what great friends do." I said, nicely and sweetly while in my mind, my fingers were crossed and the words take the bait, take the bait, take the bait, kept bouncing around the edges.

He snorted," That's gold coming from you."

He then started walking away and ignoring my protests of our growing distance. Even with his long strides( he's a giant! I am not short! ), I managed to catch up to him(by vigorous marathon-like running) and halt him by grabbing his arm.

"What?" He snapped turning around to glare at me.

I sighed, turning serious,"I know that I've been completely unfair with my treatment towards you and I've been nothing but an annoying and pestilent bitch who's stupid and crazy and deeply very sorry. Will you forgive me and be my most amazing friend?"

I looked up at him with teary puppy dog eyes and watched him crumble underneath my stare.

"Well...if you put it that way, how can I ever say no?" Myghad, he's too nice for his own good. I kind of feel guilty, crap.

But not guilty enough to abort my plans.

Besides, he won't be harmed in any way and I believe that when no harm's done, carry on and don't hold back.

"I actually was pretty shocked about your character. I pegged you more for the docile shy type, the whole nerd package. I should seriously stop stereotyping..." Jack rambled on while my interest diverted to a someone else snickering to what I assumed one of his friends must have said.

My heart, the foolishly confusing thing that it is, forgot how to beat for a moment. I was stricken. He was striking in the daylight.

He looked warm and iridescent, the sun kissing his skin and illuminating every feature into something transcending yet... something feels off about him.

His eyes, they were dull, gray and guarded. Everything about him at that moment was picture perfect except for those eyes. They took him away, leaving a hologram in his stead. Blurry. Detached. Alone.

Confusion draped himself around me as I stared at him and asked to myself...why?

Who took the stardust out of your eyes?

"...And so when your mom and I was done fucking in the kitchen, we proceeded to your bedroom where your mother went all out cowgirl and rode me all the way to the heavens."

"What?!" I exclaimed, zoning in back to his rambling that took a disgusting and extremely mortifying turn.

I think I'm going to puke. Preferably on his clothes.

"You're lying and I'm going to punch you if you keep on giving my mind unwanted things to conjure up and have nightmares about." At this point, he was full on laughing his ass off and it took all of my will power not to smack his head until he grew some much needed common sense. This is one of those times where I'm reminded that he's a jock(or rather a normal high school student) and not a puppy.

"Oh, hey Sol!" Jack chirpily said( way too chirpy actually) while waving vigorously. My head whipped to where he was gesturing only to find exactly not the person I expected to see. You saw him walk away from your line of sight, Roni wtfff?

Then came a snicker from behind me as well as an arm that went around and placed securely, effectively trapping me, on my shoulder.

"Now you, sweet little Roni, should come with me so we can have a chat specifically about what that sly head of yours had been scheming."

"Mother jokes are unethical and very inapproproate." I stated while Jack and I sat on the bleachers overlooking the field. He took me here after he forced me to spend all my saved-up allowance to satiate his voracious appetite in the cafeteria. Damn you cafeteria food, damn you for being so not cliche and being absolutely delicious and damn Jack for not sharing!

"You weren't paying attention." He simply said, like it was perfectly normal for someone to do that when someone is not paying attention and mind you, I'm saying this in the most incredulous tone I can manage.

Aaand if you think I'm overreacting then just imagine teachers doing that when a student doesn't pay attention. Yes, I know, oh god no.

"I hope you vomit in your sleep and choke on your own puke until you suffocate and die."

"Now, now, let us not resort to death wishes. We're classier than that." He said while munching every now and then on the food which I bought with the money I saved to buy my own stash of chocolates—uurghhhh...dammit!

"Death threats, it is then. Give me one good reason why I should not end your life right now." I gritted out, glaring at him intensely.

"I'll help you, geez, relax!" He said, looking at me warily. At last, he's a puppy again.

"What kind of help?" I asked, a lot more calmly than I am a few seconds ago.

"The kind of help that gets you together with your crush. Ekhem— Reporting for duty, Jack Bryant, your personal wingman." He smiled brightly, like a giddy little kid scout.

"He's not my crush and I don't need a wingman." I quipped.

His eyebrow raised,"Okay...What do you want to do then?"

"Well... I just want to be closer to him, get to know him as close friends." I emphasized.

"You can just introduce yourself to him."

Now it's my time to raised my eyebrow,"You think that would work."

"...ok, so maybe you do need help. He doesn't care much for anyone trying to befriend him. Actually, he generally just doesn't care much about anyone and mostly just goes with a facade that looks like he care." He mumbled contemplatively while I gave him a questioning stare. I didn't think he'd notice that too. "So let's say you want to really be close with him, I could help you but only as far as getting you into he's circle of friends. After that, you're on your own while I advice and support you on the sidelines."

"That's good enough for me." I said as voices growing louder by the second caught our attention.

"Speaking of getting you into Sol's inner circle," He said looking at the three boys heading our way," Here are some of them. Seems like we'll be having our mission set in motion earlier than we expected."

"You sound so lame." I mumbled as he stood up, me following after him.

Jack grinned and met them halfway to where we were. They did their guy greeting thing—the usual slap in the back, fist bumps and all that jazz— then they looked as if they were discussing something while glancing at me and sometimes with grins on their faces.

I went towards them when Jack gestured me to (with a suspicious grin on his face) and once I was beside him, he casually slung his arm around me —while I looked confused as heck— then said," Guys, meet Roni, my new girlfriend."
