My Lullaby: Chapter Seven

Updated June 6th 2012

Amelia groggily woke up. Her eyes pried open, lazily searching the room she was in. There wasn't much to look at and she searched around since she wasn’t in her familiar room. She didn’t like this at all. She wanted to know where she was at that moment but abruptly her neck throbbed making her jump up grabbing the side of her neck, remembering suddenly what had happened to her the day before. She looked around expecting someone to jump out and try to bite her again, but there was no one there, only her in a creaky bed, in a strange, small room.

She slowly sat up letting go of her grip on her aching neck. She didn't let her hand fall though but trailed her fingers lightly over her soft flesh finding to two holes scarred over. She immediately felt her mind racing as thoughts began to fill it and fly around as she began to freak out. She was suddenly realizing that she might have encountered some creatures she rather not think exist and continue to hate in the Twilight saga. But as she continued to feel her punctured skin, she worried if she might turn into those monstrous creatures living at night. With all the movies and books she's read, she couldn't help but think that.

Suddenly there was a strange sound from outside the door locking her in the room she was in. It brought her back to where she was. Which, in fact, where was she? She got up from where she was sitting, looking around at the room. It wasn't fancy at all, in fact, it was run down and she could tell that the wallpaper and ceiling need replacing along with the floor. Some of the wood was already chipped away. As she continued to look around she notice the bed she slept in was just a frame and a mattress with a thin blanket over it. She immediately felt filthy and she was glad she was still in her own clothing but she noticed that her clothing was a little dirty in some places. She frowned, why would her clothing be dirty?

She suddenly heard a sound again as she saw the door rattle. She immediately began to freak out as she grabbed the blanket from the bed and hide behind the door. When the door opened and closed, a figure entering as the door closed, she threw the blanket over the person beside her. She then lunged toward it, trying to trap the person under the blanket. It didn't work exactly as she had thought it would have.

Instead she was pushed flat to the ground a heavy weight set on top her upper back. She grunted as the wind was knocked out of her. Before she could even struggle much, the blanket was wrapped about her own frame and she was blinded. The heavy weight on her back lifted, and she was swiftly plucked from the floor before she could even try and escape. She felt her legs brush up against rough but soft material as she was set down. She didn’t wait until she was tied and bounded though, she began to struggle immediately as she was set down on the soft material. She guessed it was the bed she had woken up on. As she lunged out with her arms, kicking and squirming she felt her leg collide with something. There was a loud intake of breathe before a fall to the ground which she presumed she had done a good job hitting her kidnapper. She ripped the blanket off her head and found her annoying, black haired, classmate on the floor. He was doubled over into a praying position but she saw that his hands disappeared between his legs. She smirked. ‘Deserves him right for kidnapping me.’ She thought. Suddenly she remembered though that before she had fainted she had recognized him as her savior from the creeper guy. She wondered suddenly how this guy had known she was in trouble; Why he’d come to save her when he’d taunted her in class that same day? She shrugged not really caring right now about why this guy had done what he had, she wanted to be gone, be home. But before she could leave and high tail it home, her ankle was grabbed forcefully and pulled back. She let out a slight scream as she slammed down against the hard floor, bruising her already battered body even more. She rolled over quickly as she tried to yank her foot back. Her classmate had stood up though and he stood over her, holding her leg firmly and painfully. “Geez, what the hell do you want with me? Just let me go already before you break my ankle!” She cried at him. He was in fact really hurting her, pain shooting through her ankle every time she tried to move it. He didn’t let go, but loosened his grip a little on her leg. “I can’t let you go. Now shut up or I might just kill you myself.” He growled out, his thin lips seeming strained as he talked. She realized that he was pretty battered as well. He had bite marks, claw marks, and bruises everywhere visible on him. She frowned. He very well could kill her but she could try to scream as well before he tried to even touch her. She lingered on the thought.

“Don’t even think about screaming, I’d kill you after I’ve cut your tongue out.” He said, pulling on her leg. He dragged her across the tiny room and stopped at a chair. He moved his head down at her, and she guessed that he was looking at her. She didn’t know since he had a full set of hair covering his eyes. “If you try to escape…you won’t even make it to the door. Don’t try to move.” He hissed out as he tightened his grip on her ankle, even tighter than it had been before and she tensed up as she nodded. “Fine! I won’t just let go of my ankle…please” She begged eventually in the end her voice breaking as his grip turned into gut-wrenching painful grip. His pale lips turned down at the corners before he removed his hands from her. He pointed at the chair. “Sit. Stay.” He commanded and folded his hands waiting for her to do as he commanded. But she was more worried about her ankle; he had really squeezed the crap out of it. She rubbed it as she glared up at him. If this made it so that she couldn’t run away from him she would make his life as a kidnapper a living hell. She stood up and sat down; glad that she was commanded to sit because she figured he had sprained her ankle. It hurt to put pressure on it and it hurt to move it. She kept it still as possible as she put her hands in her hands waiting for what would happen next.

Nothing happened though except for her classmate sitting down on the bed. His hands were cupped together as he looked at the floor or she guessed. The hair was in the way of her knowing where exactly he was looking. “Why’d you kidnap me?” She asked eventually getting tired of just sitting there. The other didn’t move or even look at her nor did he answer her. She frowned. “Why did you help me when that guy attacked me?” This time he moved his head to face her but didn’t answer. Her frown deepened as she became frustrated. “Who was that guy?” This time he did answer. “Dante Staten….” That was all she got though and she became more frustrated. A name wasn’t helpful to her especially not in this situation. “Who is Dante Staten? Do you know why he had attacked me?” She asked looking at her classmate for answers. He did know something he just wasn’t telling her. Why wasn’t he telling her?

She watched him, waiting for an answer. His thin lips frowning downward as he turned his face toward the wall opposite the door. “He attacked you because he was after me…” There was a long pause and she stared at him confused. She noticed a muscle twitching on his lower jaw and that made her even more confused and frustrated. Couldn’t he just tell her everything instead of giving her bits and pieces and she would have to ask for more? “Why is he after you?” She asked after a long pause. He didn’t say much for a while. He did turn his head though and it seemed that he was looking at her. She wasn’t sure still with the all that hair covering his eyes. Suddenly though her neck throbbed painfully and she winced, her hands flying up toward the wounded side of flesh that showed the two punctured holes. She bit her lip as she tried to keep from cursing as the pain intensified, her neck involuntarily crooking toward her hands that held onto her wound. She didn’t even notice her classmate beside her until his hand was on top of hers’. It was colder than she’d expect them to be and it made her gasp out and forget for a moment the pain throbbing at her neck. He moved her hands away, dropping his hold on them as soon as they were away from her neck. He then gently pushed her head the other way, moving her hair out of his away as well before he took a look at her neck. She thought he was looking at her neck, she hoped he was or this would be more awkward than it was already. She winced as he poked at the two holes lining the side of her neck before he withdrawal. “What are you doing?” She asked as she watched him as he hurried across the room and crouched on the floor. He pulled out a back pack, rummaging through it for some time before standing up again and coming toward her. “Wha-What are you getting?” By this time she was beginning to see fours of everything, and seeing four figures walking toward her freaked her out. She jumped up from her seated position, collapsing over as the world titled violently. She cried out as she hit the floor, her body feeling as it had broken into a billion pieces upon hitting the hard surface. Obliviously it hadn’t though, as she tried to get up again, her mind slowly slipping from her grasp as she felt cold hands gripping her. She cried out again, wondering who those hands belonged to as she tried to escape from them. But she was too weak, her body not following her commands as it slipped from her control and she was lifted upwards. Her vision blurred the world tilting once more before she heard a loud echoic thunder in her ears. Before she could focus on it, find where it came from a great cloud of black fog overcame her, developing all around her and she was lost.
