Chapter Five of My Lullaby

Amelia hurried out of the classroom right as the bell rang. She was glad the class was over and as she ran out the doorway David was there to meet her. She immediately went into his arms hugging him tightly. David laughed as he hugged her back loosely asking, “What’s the matter, boo?"

Amelia looked up at David letting him go somewhat, "I just wanted to hug you before I have to go home." She really didn't want to go home. She didn't want to face her step-father or her mother who had taken up the habit of drinking whenever she got home.

David gave her a soft smile kissing her on the forehead as he said, “I’m sorry I wish I could help you but you know I have practice. Coach will kill me if I miss another practice." She nodded biting

her lip disappointed but knowing she couldn't do anything about it. She didn't want to get David into trouble so she was stuck with her drunk mother and wonderful step-father.

"It’s okay. I'll see you later than." She smiled slightly up at David and he pecked her on the cheek. She pouted as he waved bye to her and disappeared through the crowds heading off to practice.

She turned pushing through the crowd until she got outside of the school where her friend Melissa popped out and grabbed Amelia. "Amelia! Did you see him? Did you see him?!" she exclaimed. Amelia looked at her friend wide eyed confused on who she was talking about but then it clicked in her brain and she replied, "No..I don't know who he is..You never described how he looked so for all I know he could be anyone. He could be him." she said shrugging off her friend as she continued to walk pointing randomly at some boy with big rimmed glasses wear a checkered vest and brown pants. Melissa followed her pointing finger as it pointed at the boy and immediately muttered, "Ew! No it's not him." she grabbed Amelia's arm hooking their arms together as they walked, "He suppose to be out here but I can describe him," she gave Amelia a smirk before continuing, “He is tall..not fat at all. Um..he's lean and has dark black shaggy hair..I haven't figured out what color

his eyes are. I'm working on that." she smiled as we stopped at her car. "So have you seen Mr. Mysterious-drop-dead-gorgeous yet?" Amelia thought of the people she had seen today thinking immediately of the annoying jerk who had sat behind her in her last period. That couldn't possibly be him, couldn't be.

"Nope. I haven't seen anyone like that. I have to go though, Melissa I'll talk to you later." Amelia said as she hugged her best friend before heading off toward her house. She felt like walking home that day, perfect weather for it anyway. Once she got across the street and able to reach a wooden bench she put her stuff down. She then stripped her navy blue vest so that all she wore was her button down white shirt and plaited skirt. She was happy the gave a little imagination to what they could were on their feet since she wore her comfortable black, ballet flats.

When she was done fixing herself up for the walking home, stuffing the vest into her book bag she began to walk. But as she walked she noticed a guy behind her following her. She bit her lip in frustration and confusion as she walked a little faster. Why would someone be following her? She didn't know but didn't like it at all. It made her really afraid. She tried to think of what to do when someone was following you. If they are then it usually means they want to kidnap you or rape you, so where do you go so it's hard for them to do that? She looked around panicking as she spotted a small book store across the street. She dashed for it not car if there was cars coming or not

and busted through the door.

The little bell rang as it hit the door and the owner of the store looked up from where she was at the counter reading a really thick book. Amelia smiled before calmly walking around trying to hide from

the windows of the store so the creeper couldn't look in and spot her. Eventually she calmed herself down and actually began looking at the books around to distract her as she waited a bit before going out. But when she turned to look at the other shelf behind her she jumped, bumping into the shelf she'd just been looking at because there stood the guy who'd been following her. She gripped the bookcase behind her feeling trapped as she had gone to the corner of the store the bookcases lining up all the way to the walls so there was only one why out.

She looked at the man in front of her, her eyes big as she took in his rigid appearance. He smirked at her and she was surprised at how clean his teeth looked, so pearly white compared to his quickly pulled back long hair, and very worn clothing. "You look like a terrified mouse." he chuckled, Amelia finding his laugh creepy and maybe insane like. She immediately put on a front of defense as she glared at him and said, "I'm not afraid of you...however you are." This only made the man

laugh more as he stepped closer. Amelia backed into the shelf as best as she could, books digging into her spine as she listened to the other speak again.

"Unafraid people don't flee into nearby buildings." Amelia frowned knowing the other had caught her but didn't let him see as she once again glared at him. "I wasn't fleeing...I was hurting because I

wanted to find a book. There's nothing wrong with that." she hoped her lie worked but the other just shook his head as he laughed again at her. "Ahh! You're a funny human, do you know that?" he said holding his stomach as if it hurt now to laugh. Amelia's eyebrows frowned in confusion though at being called human. Wasn't he one too?

Just as she thought that his head snapped down to glaze at her. And she felt a little afraid again as he was leaning in, and he was terrifying being so taller than her. She really felt like a mouse then.

"He didn't tell you what he was?" she looked at him confused wondering what he was talking about. He shot he a confused look back as he said, "You saved his life and he doesn't even let you in on his little secret? Why his being chased, being hunted?" Amelia was really confused now and wasn't liking the guy being so close to her. She needs her little bubble of personal space. So she pushed him away as she said, "I don't know what the fuck your talking about. Look you must have mistaken me for the wrong person but I have to go." and then she turned to leave but something roughly grabbed her arm pulling her back harshly. She tried to get her arm free but the guy had like a death

grip of a boa-constructer and he slammed her into his body as he ...sniffed her. She was so baffled that he was smelling her, she stopped struggling for a moment. But it didn't last long and she tried

to get free again. "Let me go!"

"You’re the right person. You smell definitely like the chick that was covered all over his body scent. Can't be mistaken for that horrible smell." Amelia narrowed her eyes at the other as she growled, "I don't smell bad!" And with that she slapped him. Or tried to because the other grabbed her hand the second it was up in the air. She looked at her hand and his gripping her wrist. It made her angrier and she ripped her hand from him before stalking away.

She walked out of the store steaming angry at the creeper for calling her a human, and saying that she smelled bad. She was human and so ways everyone else and she didn't smell bad, she took a shower this morning!

She checked over her shoulder to make sure the guy wasn't following her again. He wasn't anywhere she looked and she walked a little faster. She felt like she was still being followed, and she headed home.
