Chapter Eight of My Lullaby

Updated 9.3.2012

The next time Amelia woke up, it was to the loud indigestion of a Geo. She tried to sit up but her limps wouldn't support her and she was just capable of laying there on the back seat. She groaned as her vision blurred and twirled making her sick to her stomach. Her neck throbbed and she felt a stabbing pain in her shoulder. She figured it was from sleeping here in the car. How'd she even get in the car? Why was she even in a car? She looked around, after putting as much effort into turning onto her side. She succeeded and was able to see everything except maybe out the passenger windows. She could see out of the front window and she could see that they were moving, fast. She noticed that she wasn't alone and that the person driving was her kidnapper. She frowned. She needed to escape.

Amelia looked around and through the front window trying to figure out where they possibly might be. All she saw was road with a few cars. Next to the road was nothing but trees and then sometimes random open fields. When exits came up, signs would pop up telling about the food and building available at that stop. She suddenly got an idea and smiled. She immediately stopped though as she spotted the other's eyes watching her in the rear view mirror. She went stone faced and stared at him. "What?", She snapped out. She was irritated with being kidnapped and being frustrated with non-answered questions. She was going to escape though. As long as she kept him occupied and not thinking she was going to escape then she had a chance.

As so spoke the other's eyes turned from just looking to an angry glare. He then looked away toward the road. She smiled inwardly as her face stayed neutral and stated, “I need to go to the bathroom." She watched the rear view mirror as the other's eyes become available in the mirror. His eyes were like narrow slits as they stared at her. She figured that she made a mistake and that he was a little smarter than what he seems to be. Or her attempt to get out the car and escape was a little too obvious. After a while of him just staring at her, she said it again. "I need to get to a bathroom. Prisoners need to pee too." He just kept staring at her and she was eventually thinking that he wasn't going to let her go to the bathroom even if she really had to go. But suddenly he looked away and the car swerved right, other cars honking and beeping their horns as he swerved infront of them. Amelia cried out as she gripped the seat, her limbs finally working. "What are you doing? That's illegal!", She cried out at him. She tried to seat up so that she could put a seatbelt on but as soon as they were off the turning ramp, they were on the street which lead to more rough turns. She eventually got herself buckled as the other threw the car around and stopped unexpected infront of a gas station. He turned the car off and climbed out, of course not wearing a seatbelt. He then walked over to her side of the car and opened it, bending over to glare at her. "Don't think about escape. You won't make it off this pavement without me catching you. So don't even try." He growled out before pressing the button that undid the fastening of her seatbelt. It snapped out and against Amelia. She glared back at him as she moved the seatbelt off of her. "I wasn't going to escape. I really have to pee so move." She lied as she tried to get out the car but he was in the way. He just glared down at her before grabbing her one wrist and yanking her out the car. He slammed the car door before dragging her into the gas station and toward the bathrooms. Amelia didn't like this. Her heart was pounding a mile away as she thought that he really didn't trust her. He was going to go in there with her. How was she suppose to escape then? And his grip was beginning to hurt her.

She struggled, trying to get out of his grip but he let her go as he stopped infront of the women's bathroom. He just gave her the death stare, which probably meant not to even try and escape but she had to at least try. She yanked her wrist back as she rubbed where he'd gripped it. It was already turning blue. Geez. She then run into the bathroom. She tried to make it look like she really had to go. She didn't know if it worked or not but she wasn't going to wait around and try to find out.
