Chapter 2: Meeting the Eldest Salvatore

I woke up better. Not happy, but better than before. And that's very rare nowadays. So I'll go with it. Walk in the sun, sing in the rain and all that stuff.

I got up and took a quick shower. I dressed in a black tank-top, black leggings, black ankle boots, and a necklace my father gave me. I never take it off. He gave it to me on my 13th birthday. I walked out of my room to the kitchen, but was stopped by Jenna.

"Tell me. Do I look adult?" she asked me.

"Depends on where you're going," I state.

"Jeremy's parent-teacher conference."

I nod and see Elena walk up. "Hair up or down?" Jenna asks, holding up her hair.

"Sexy stewardess," Elena remarks as her heart up.

Jenna lets her hair fall. "Boozy housewife," I respond making Elena giggle. Jenna glared at me. "Up it is," I smirk.

"You two are feisty today," Jenna states. We both nod.

"I feel good. Which is rare. So, I decided to go with it. Fly free, walk in the sunshine and all that stuff," Elena states and I chuckle.

She gives me a look which meant she knew I thought the same thing.

"Couldn't have said it better myself twin," I remark. "Where is Jeremy?"

"He left early. Something about getting to wood-shop early to finish a bird house," Jenna tells us, fixing her hair.

Elena and I share a look. "There is no wood-shop, is there?" Jenna realizes. We shake our heads.

"Nope," I say popping the "p".

"Yeah," Jenna mutters lowly.

We tell her bye and head out the door. As we walk to our cars I notice the worried look on my sister's face, "He'll be okay, Lena. I promise. And you know I never break my promises." She nods and smiles.

"Yeah, I know. I just worry, you know?" I nod.

"Yeah, I know. But don't worry so much. You'll get frown lines," I joke and she glares at me playfully.

I'm in history and completely irritated. I drowned out Mr. Tanner's voice the entire period. Elena and Stefan were staring at each other all period until Tanner called them out on it.

"Are we bothering you, Mr. Salvatore? Ms. Gilbert?"

I stifled a laugh as Elena glared at me. I just smiled teasingly. The bell rang and I caught up with Elena and Stefan. I was talking to Stefan about this book I really liked earlier this morning and he said he had it.

"I brought it. Told you," he said with a smug smirk on his face. I looked at the book.

"Wuthering Heights: By Alice Bell. I'm impressed, Mr. Salvatore," I state. He chuckles.

"You know, I can't believe she didn't use her real name," Elena stated. I nodded.

"It was a time where female writers weren't excepted then," he informed us and I laughed.

"Guess you won't be going back in time when the time machine is invented, Elena," I joke and she nudges me while Stefan chuckles. "Where did you get it?"

"It was passed down through the family. I have lots of books. Go ahead, keep it," he said handing me the book.

"Oh no I... I would like to read it again. I promise I'll give it back," I tell him. Elena nods.
